Trust me, I love the deagle a lot. Favourite weapon after the AK (obviously) and the knife (for pure griefer value). Never really loved the m4, because its too easy to be awesome with, and not very manly (AK completely slaughters it on manliness) Autoshotty is 4tw though.

Small calibur guns, or even guns at all are hardly used for air defense anymore.
In the old days, they had "Quad 50s", which were 4 barrel M2 machine guns mounted on jeeps for close in AA defense. Such a dedicated AA gun system no longer exists today, where the role is performed by man portable AAMs or AAM launchers mounted on vehicles.
.50 cal and 20mm guns are still mounted on vehicles for use against ground targets, where they can still be used in the close range AA role if necessary (more likely someone else will kill it with a missile first).
The .50 cal round fired by the Ma Duece is not the same as Deagle ammo, however. The M2 fires .50 BMG, a rifle size round developed specifically for it. FYI, it's also the same round used in .50 cal anti material rifles, like the M82A1, or the Tac-Macmillan a Canadian sniper used to kill a Taliban at some ridiculous range (2.5km++) for the world record.
The Desert Eagle fires .50 Action Express, a pistol size round. While .50 AE is quite powerful, it has a little more than 1/10 the energy of the .50 BMG.
Of course, that's to be expected, nobody's stupid enough to fire such a huge rifle cartridge out of a pistol anyway. I shouldn't speak too soon; I'm sure some moron out there has made a ridiculous handgun chambered for .50 BMG, but don't expect anyone to fire it effectively.
The Desert Eagle skirts the edge of "Compensating for Something Else-Territory", but at least it's a usable weapon, if impractical most of the time. Anything bigger falls deep into "I Have A Small...Gun-Land", and is no more than a novelty. This includes retardities like the 13mm gun, or a .50 BMG handgun.

I feel inadequate,
I would habe loved to fire the deagle but best for me is 44 mag. After a day of hammering away on the 9 mm we fired a 100 or so rounds out of this beasty, all i can say is aim and shoot, forget the double tap though thats just plain mean.
Tbh dirty harry had the rate about right. Man i can shoot 9mm's for frikkin ages but the next day my wrists were pwned after the 44 mag, although that did include a few from a 357 mag as well.
I can't imagine why you would need anything larger than a 44 mag and tbh if you were up agaist guys with 9mm you would be toast the aim nicely fire accuratley and with high repetition. Further, 9mm switches easly from pistol to your trusty smg.
My fav round was a rusian (they really make some neat stuff) made 22 man that thing was dirty, rapid fire and accurate to the extreme at close range, quite, and i don't care who you are if your sporting a frontal lobe 22 hole your not working on all cylinders.
I am also amazed no-one has mention the favorite hund gun of choice of many crims, the sawn off double barrel, untill you used these thing a bit u may reconsider the effectiveness of other heavy caliber handguns :)

A .50BMG pistol would literally break your wrist.
Hell, even firing a full-sized M82 rifle without using a bipod or something else to stabilize it is a stunt...trying to absorb the recoil with nothing but your wrist would be insane. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

It fires special 13 mm armor-piercing explosive bullets.
So it's a stupidly-designed semiautomatic rifle with a pistol grip and high-caliber ammunition, big deal.
No, its not. Its quite useful for taking down hardy enemies, such as zombies and vampires.
Actually there was a gun manufacturer in Wisconson who made functioning versions of the Jackal and Casul. The Casul is is a .45 Casul Auto loader, which is actually pretty easy to do tbh if you modify the base design of a ,357 Mag Desert Eagle, the only differance is in appearance. The Jackal is a bit trickier 13mm is not really all that big .50 cal is actually like 12.7mm sooooooooooo its only marginally larger in diameter. The kicker tho is what grain of shell your using as well. Thats really the differance maker tbh. Tho tbh the guns afore mentioned are illegal in a good number of US states seeing as that if loaded with hollow point rounds, they can penetrate Doubled up Grade 2 Bullet Proof Vests, which is what SWAT team members use. Beat Cops get Grade 1,SWAT Grade 2 and the Bomb disposal guys get Grade 3. Now if you went to some of the southern states or to a gun show in the US and had one of these guns namely the Casul you can buy Nylon Jacketed Hollow points that are affectionately reffered to as "Cop Killer" rounds and with these particular handguns can and will tear through a Grade 3 body suite. Hence why these things are illegal in most of the U.S.

The world standard really for Ack Ack rounds are 4 different calibers, in NATO its 20mm and 30mm and in the old Soviet block,23mm and 57mm.This is the "Zeus" its the most popularly used Anti-Air Craft Peice used outside of NATO infulance. So inshort Africa,Iran,Veitnam,North Korea,Mongolia,Cambodia and the old Russian states use these alot.

The rounds most commonly known as "cop killers" were the solid brass rounds (also known as "teflon bullets", the misconception being that the teflon coating facilitated piercing body armor, whereas the teflon was actually just to prevent wear on the barrel), although I think those have been banned in all 50 states. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Not sure if its true or not, but I think I read somewhere that there was a lot of complaining about them, though they have never actually killed a policeman.
edit: unlike the bullet types which aren't called cop-killers

Hollowpoints don't penetrate armor. At least as well as FMJ rounds anyway. They're designed to expand inside soft tissue, to maximise wounding. The drawback is they'll splatter if they hit something hard, and fail to penetrate.
As mentioned, the teflon coating is only to increase barrel life. It will do absolutely nothing to help penetration.
The whole "cop killer" round controversy is media fearmongering hype.

Exactly, people are just stupid.
They watch Lethal Weapon and think there's magic bullets that break the laws of physics to penetrate police body armor. Last time I checked, nobody made DPU or tungsten handgun rounds.
"Armor piercing" rounds do exist - they're called ordinary rifle rounds, which will penetrate any body armor short of Class III with a rifle plate.
The media found something stupid people would believe and ran with it. That's why people freak out over imaginary Mel Gibson bullets and don't even know about regular, standard 5.56 and 7.62 rounds which will do the same thing far more effectively.

Did he make the Jackal to specifications, i.e. keep the full size and weight?
Imagine even trying to lift that thing...

Exactly, hence the solid brass design.

Well...yes and no. I don't think there's ever been a recorded incident of killing a police officer with one of these rounds, however the capability to do this by penetrating their body armor DOES exist. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

That was in response to the "teflon coated hollow point bullets" thing above.
Quote: Well...yes and no. I don't think there's ever been a recorded incident of killing a police officer with one of these rounds, however the capability to do this by penetrating their body armor DOES exist.
I was talking mainly about the teflon coated rounds. And also the dumb media raising trouble over pistol rounds, when rifle rounds will penetrate any body armor easily.
Some "armor piercing" handgun (and rifle, of course) rounds do exist, most of the ones I've seen were jacketed steel cores. Still, a handgun round will deliver far less energy than a rifle round, regardless of bullet composition. A FMJ rifle round will defeat any body armor short of military grade, and rifles are common and legal in the US even in places where handguns are restricted.

Honestly, when a 9mm chunk of lead to the face will be more than enough to kill you even with military grade ceramic plate body armor, AP rounds are the least of a cop's worries.
That, and unless you've got that new body armor the London cops are using, a knife goes straight through your fancy kevlar. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

I seen a program couple of years ago about using a high powered rack of magnets to propel the ammo. They were developing it mainly as an anti missile system. It could fire a truly ridiculous amount of metal per second.
During the program they tested a cut down version firing it at various test objects. One of which was invariably the humble melon. When the pressed the button the melon just vaporized. In slow motion you could make out all the pieces breaking up geting hit again and breaking up further. It liquified the melon.
I 'think' the number was 32,000 rounds per second. This number could be scaled up or down though by just adding more racks. Obviously its down side is the amount of power required to fire it. Meaning for the time being its only applicable use would be as a weapon for a battleship.
Imagining such a weapon of the future fitted to a land based vehicle is terrifying.
For handguns, I cant believe nobody mentioned robocops gun. The humble barreta for me thank you, or maybe the semi automatic modifyied version.
Whats your hurry? Everyone will have his day to die. If you choose to pull the trigger! Should your drama prove sincere! Do it somewhere far away from here!! |
