Hey, I have been playing for a week or two. I was wondering what is the best ore to mine to make money. Also, what is the best ship to use as a miner, and what mining laser should I be using? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
I havnt mined since beta 3 odd years ago so my advice will be pretty ropey.
But...
I hear an osprey is a pretty good starting mining ship as it has some bonus's. As for a location maybe try a 0.6 or 0.7 system away from the main busy starter systems where you will find the belts havnt been exhausted.
Err..
Maybe someone else better take it from here.
Best Regards,

Train up for the cruising with the mining bonus per level. Caldari is Osprey, but each faction has one. Train your Mining skill up to IV so that you can use Miner II's. Fit as many as you can on to your Osprey, you'll probably need a Co-Processor to help increase your ship's CPU. If you can't fit another mining laser, but still have a hi slot and some CPU/power grid left, toss on any weapon that will fit to kill belt rats.
If you can afford one now, get the industrial skill so you can haul your own ore after mining for a bit in to a jet can.
I'd recommend that you start mining in a 0.7 that is a few hops from any main system. This will save you from the headache of ore thieves.
Join channel "TCSyn Casino" in game, if you have mining questions. Many of the players that idle in that channel are experienced miners.

This is good and all, but we have yet to touch this guys subject. What is the Best Ore To Mine so far in everyone's opionon. I Mined a .4 sector for the longest time in Haine, and hit Omber and Pristine Jaspet. However now I am spending time in .6 area mining Kernite and Pyro Ore.

Originally by: Erfnam Train up for the cruising with the mining bonus per level. Caldari is Osprey, but each faction has one.
erm no only the caldari and minnies have mineing cruisers, and the osperey is far better than the sythe due to more cpu and a drone bay which is around 4*larger which helps keep the rats off of you.
To the op as stated above try to find a decent system 0.7 and below but above 0.4 to start, away from the main routes but not to far from where your gonna sell/build. then mine into a jet can and haul your own ore, just keep your eyes open for ore theives.

For somone new use this tactic. (Dosnt answer your question 100% but helps)
Get into an industrial ship right away, Bestwer, Mamoth, Mark 1, or Badger.
Put many expanded cargo hold you can fit on it and a miner 2 or best miner you can get on it.
When you go eat dinner, goto sleep what ever, put it in a 1.0 system mining scordite or veldspar. It dosnt make a lot of isk, but you do this a few times a day you can make a lot more isk than you would normally make. -----------------------------------------------

The ores generally go alphabetically, with the best ores at the top of the alphabet (this does fluctuate due to mineral prices).
Best way to check which ores are on the top today is through http://eveinfo.com/ore_price/
That site allows you to specify your current regional mineral prices (both buy and sell) so you can make an accurate comparision.
To answer your question about the ores you've been mining: Jaspet, Kernite, Omber -- in order from best to not so best. ;)

depends on where you live..
if empire I think its Omber
if 0.0 and north its crokite or bistot... depending on mineral prices that day.. if 0.0 south its arknor or bistot depending on mineral prices
mercoxite takes specialize ship/fittings and can be more profitable than arknor if the mineral prices are right... but usualy I think it ranks below crokite in value Cap Ship Sales |

Actually one of the best payout ores one can mine (At least to the mass ratio) is Pyroxes as it gives you a little bit of just about everything. Kernite and omber are also good for the isogen, with Omber being really the most expensive ore you can possibly mine in high sec (Though it's only available in certain areas of empire, same actually with all the other ores)
Also if your really interested in mining it helps to hook up with a company that does such things, as many will assist newer players, both with ships, skills and equipment in return for ore etc.
That said and done I shall make an unashamed plug by suggesting you check out PANTH Public and let em know Kess sent you from the forums. As we are allways looking for new miners (Though currently preference IS on older characters, there's some much newerones in my corp that are doing quite well now).
Even if you dont bite the hook though, as I said you may want to look into some of the mining/production companies. Though I would strongly suggest that you at least hang out abit first with the folk, see how they operate and see if this is really what you'd like. Each company is run at least a little bit differently and it may take a little while to find a company that truely suits you.

I've only been playing for about 3-4 weeks and I was making bank with: Gallente Cruiser: Vexor strapped with as many miners as I could get on there, cargo expanders, and an AB, plus 5 mining drones and 5 scout drones (for incoming rats)
I was filling up my cargo bay quickly so I had a friend in an indy just picking up my containers and doing runs while I sat there, mined and jettison'd chunks of ore. Pyroxies was my ore of choice.
I can make you a loadout if you want one.
Happy mining. ~Vix
