I don't tend to sell much stuff, so it's taken me a while to notice this......
I put someting on the market, and get taxed. Then when it sells, I get taxed again!!! Why?
Fair enough getting taxed after the sale, but taxed before I sell. This makes it a bit unfair if you want to sell an expensive item, and don't get a buyer. Or do you get a rebate?

one is tax, the other is a brokerage fee.
The brokerage fee can be reduced significantly by training a trade skill.
that's why. It's an isk sink doubling up as part of a skilltree.

Edited by: Tachy on 04/07/2006 19:02:12 One is the broker fee, the other is the tax for the transaction.
Both can be lowered by skills and/or good standing.
Edit: Why? They're there so you can't just place goods to influence the market at no cost. --*=*=*--

The broker fee can be avoided altogether if you sell to an existing buy order. ________________________________________________

iirc when you put up a sell order (I assume this is what you do) the tax shown there is the total tax that will be paid to SCC when everything is sold.
Thus you pay the brokers fee upon adding the sell order, but the total tax will not be drawn until an item is being sold, and only the tax for that item(s), in the end the total tax should be the sum shown when you set up the sell order.

Edited by: Prodgen on 04/07/2006 21:16:13 He might be referring to the actual tax... if you put up a buy order, you pay the tax and broker fee when someone sells you something... if you put up a sell order, you put up the tax and broker fee when someone buys the item.
Edit: Taxes are charged when something is bought or sold, broker fees are charged when putting the order up.... to avoid confusion.
