Most everyone in eve hates macro miners. One of the things I think ccp should consider doing is this.... When they investigate a suspected macro miner that was turned in to CCP and CCP determines them to be macro miners, then ccp should permantly set their sec status to -5 and allow all of eve to shoot at them, CCP can even put a moderate bounty on them as well. This would make it extremly difficult for them to macro mine and give other players the chance to make alittle isk. Another idea would be to give a fair reward in the form of isk or in game items for reporting them, BUT only recieve the reward once the suspected macro users have been confirmed macros. lol concord or ded could even be the ones that give the rewards out.

If CCP realy wanted to get macro miners they could. Run a report on the DataBase on players that are mining virtualy 7/24 and are stockpiling huge amounts of ore in a short period of time.
This would be a very easy report for them to generate and I am sure they have done it already.
Macros often have 2 subscriptions so therein lies the problem.... I think they are scared they will lose subs.
So they ban a a few now and then but on the whole don't seem to be dong to much.

very true , CCP can generate that report and they can also try and contact that player thru that petition option they have and if they dont reply with in a reasonable amount of time that would in its self raise suspecion. How ever CCP wishes to do that is fine I just wish that some kind of a reward system could be implemented. Im not asking for a titan, but 1 would be nice lol, just something reasonable, like what you would get from a npc rat in a lvl 3 or 4 mission. or some decent piece of equipment that you can already use.

I can't argue with that.
I have popped 3 macro haulers in the last week and petioned at least 8 names.
Can I have my reward please ?
How about a nice new shiny Raven ?

Supposedly, you can pop them by taking their can, ejecting one yourself and wait till their hauler take it?
Thing is the macroers I found, never rename their cans. And YES, I¦m sure they are macroers (11 people on the same system, all created in the same day, with VERY similar names)
What am I missing?
(I anyway rob them, can be like 8 straight hours robbing them)

While it would be fun to be able to go out and shoot macroers for "free" and get a reward I think CCP finds it better for the game to just ban them and be done with it.

Oveur recently responded to this sort fo accusation (of which he seems to be getting really tired of) that CCP banned 1,000 people in June.
My sense is CCP is not like Blizzard (with WOW). They devs truly love this game and want to see it be great and will not tolerate jerks screwing it up. Seems to me they will gladly lose several thousand dollars to see the game prosper for the rest.

Last week someone sent me an eve mail asking me to check out their website that sold everything from isk to hard to get items in eve. This was unsolicitaed eve mail and due to its content I petitioned ccp under the harassment option to let them know what had happend a couple days later I got a msg from GM Fate informing me that ccp had permantly banned that account. It be nice if there was a reward system inplace for alerting them to things like that as well.

I know this will get flamed but, in my Eve life I cant think of a single time a macro miner has impaired or made it hard for me to do anything including making isk. I think that if there was any type of reward it would hurt Eve as a whole and make the petition system even more backed up. You would start to get all kinds of false reports from the greedy few. And what if someone is mining in a hauler where it can mine for 30 mins on a solo roid and they get up to do something else and they miss the so called "acceptible time limit for reponse from CCP's petition system" then they get perma banned? Besides the m.miners that sell the isk online it doesnt bother me at all. |

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 05/07/2006 18:07:21 Imho the player that reports a play that is verified by ccp to be macro mining, then the player that turned in that macro should recieve the propety of that macro user, and allow that macro user to remain in the game as they would now know the risks of getting caught. on the second occurance make the character re learn all the skills again to run a barge and hauler and again give the property to the player that turned him in. On the 3rd "conviction" ban their account and donate the property to the player that turned him in and place any isk / ore / minerals in to his corperations's hanger / wallet. . ccp can even create a new branch in their iss department and call it "M.I.S." Macro Investigative Services

Macrominers severly skew the market. If you never mine then I suppose they don't hurt you (indeed for PvP types they help keep their ships cheaper than they otherwise might be) but if you mine and/or are a builder having someone dump a zillion units of minerals on the market most definitely depresses prices.
Cheaper ships because of cheaper overall prices also means someone may get suicide ganked because the math of a new ship versus their cargo makes sense. If the ship was more expensive then the ganker would have to wait for a juicier target to make it money out for them.

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 05/07/2006 19:48:35 Macro miners screwup the economy of eve and create an un-fair advantage to players. thats Why I dispise them vehemintly. They should be reported and delt with big time. I'd just want to get some kind of reward system going so as to encurage players to trun in macro's and possibly even create a new profession in eve. Its one thing to have multiple accounts as this game almost requires dual accounts. I use 2 accounts as it makes it alot easier to solo mine as you dont have to run to grab a hauler every 5 min to grab the ore and it helps to cut down on theft. BUT its different to use multiple accounts in a manner that can create an unfair advantage to other players the way macro users do.

If they could prove they were real macroers, they would just be banned.
There are enough people who report them all the time.
No rewards are needed but the banhammer

Agree, just take all the ore and make em go boom first
And why the #@$&^ not just remove macros all together? I hate macros in games

You've got it! I'm amazed that no-one thought of pressing that button on the famous dev keyboard!
Apologies to Verone for stealing the keyboard, but it really was too good to miss

Then it would seem your comprehension of the underlying economics of eve via ISK supply, mineral costs, and whole player professions is sorely lacking.
