Hey all,
Just got a brand new Prophecy, and wondering what the most common Mission Kits ppl use then get the most out of this ship?
I like the idea of energy weapons and no ammo to haul along on missions. What range should I expect to be able to best fight at?
Thanks in advance for any help! Gene:)

I go with two medium beams lasers, and 4 pulses. I use the beams as the frigates approach to kill them off and for range, and the pulses for the ROF. I use 3 crystals: Radio, Microwave, and Gamma for the ranges LONG, Medium, Close... then I throw a webber on there to slow down those infernal frigates that swarm. pack as many light drones in there as possible to eat up the frigates, and toss a assault missile launcher on there as well. get the very best beams and pulses you can for the money and you will eat 100k rats alive, and learn to TANK ARMOR... then you won't have problem holding off the barrage of the big rats, kill off the little guys and go after the 200k rats...
however my Sacrilege (AMARR HAC) puts my prophecy to shame and challenges BS setups with its armor bonuses and my skill bonuses... and if you throw me in a gang, forget about it with all THOSE bonuses thrown in there. but the prophecy is a sexy looking ship and will hold its own for the most part.

When I had Prophecy for mission running I used full rack (minus one for tractor beam) of heavy anode particle streams. Later on I hunted Angel bs:s with 650mm/720mm projectiles though... ________________________________________________ My signature exploded :/ |

If you are using the Prophecy for missions, I'd recommend beams as it's not easy to dictate the range of encounters, and beams allow you to hit from pretty much any distance. If you have low skills, I'd recommened something like:
6x Focused Medium Beams 1x Tractor Beam (or Assault Launcher)
1x 10MN AB 1x Web (best named) 1x Large Peroxide Battery
1x Medium Armor Rep 2x Armor Hardeners (NPC specific) 1x Damage Control 2x Cap Relay
If you are using beams, you'll want the best named web that you can fit. A 90% web will allow you to hit basically anything in level 3's with beams. Definitely bring along 3 sets of crystals (long/medium/short ranges). I personally use radio/standard/multifrequency. As your skills improve, I'd recommend something along the lines of:
6x Heavy Modulated Medium Beams 1x Tractor Beam
1x 10MN AB II 1x Web 1x Cap Recharger II
1x Medium Armor Rep II 2x Energized Adaptive Nano II 1x Damage Control 1x Cap Relay 1x Heat Sink II
This is what I'm currently working towards.

Thanks for the setups and tips, I can see where I'm still a little weak on the skills and also where I'm doing ok and how I need to tweak my setup to do better.
Currently my Caracal allows my to do L3 missions though it takes a while when using hit'n run tactics. The Caracal has the range and legs to draw the targets out to me to fight on my own terms. Where the Prophecy is slower it can take more punishment but I need more cap I can see to hang out longer.
Question: I assume the tractor is to help collect the loot as the BC is not that nimble as a caracal, so If I have a MK IV Iteron at my base, doesn't it make more sense to fit the tractor to the iteron and just drop a BM when the fights done then go and collect the loot in the MK IV? If I'm amiss in my assumption, please clarify?
Thanks again... Very heplful! I also assume there are more ways to fit a Prophecy effectively so I am open to other ideas as well or even to other ppl concurring which of the above approaches they find most effective. Thanks, Gene:)

Since you aren't carrying ammo, you have around 360m3 of cargo space. That's enough room for most of the level 3's that I've done, so I just loot while I go. I used a launcher for a while, but found the small boost to be insignificant. You might get more mileage out of a launcher with your Caracal background --- my missle skills are sad.
