I'm looking for the following programs:
- Free virus scanner
- Free firewall
- Free computer diagnostics
It's hard trying to find opinions on software like this.. the internet is completely flooded with them. I tend to use zonealarm as a firewall, seems to go ok once you have all the permissions sorted.
Any advice? What do you guys use?

You already have ZoneAlarm. HK has hit the nail on the head with the other two.

Yea, went looking to download it a few months ago (cause it was _the_ antivirus) and I couldnt find a free version anywhere... stuck using a GPL virusscanner now ClamWin, which is good, but it aint no AVG

Zone Alarm and Avast! antivirus.
been using those 2 for 2 years and no problems untill now

well heres a no brainer: www.free-av.com
used to be sygate firewall was the best free one in the business (have found at least on my old 2000 boxes that after about 4 months Zone Alarm always started going squirrely on me) you can still get sygate personal fire wall if you speak german.
only thing I ever use for diagnostics is: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
from stress tests to harddrive tests it can do em all.

My AVG says "you may be unaware of this, but you may be using an illegal license of our software, please contact our support" I wonder why, i totally bought it legally and stuff.

I dropped zonelarm the day I realized that 90% of my lag situations in eve were caused by it.
