Edited by: Xeaon on 08/08/2006 09:18:31 WoW: Good game tbh, I liked it. But for some reason blizzard froze my account like 7 times, so balls to them.
Planetside: Probally the MMO I miss the most, I quit after it became pretty empty (after the stupid stompy robots). Was a great game though, good fun.
EQ1: Yeah first fantasy MMO i've played, was fun in it's own endless grind kinda way.
Eq2: ****. Looks like plastic, the most boring and dead feeling world ever made ever. Ever.
UO: I tried this late into it's life, was pretty crappy. None of this pvp i've heard so much about
Eve-O: <3
Daoc: Meh, another famous MMO I started very late in it's life, was very empty, No fun to play mmos like that.
ww2 online: Hmm.. I think i just randomly died from snipers or something 10 times in a row and quit. Not much to say about this, looks awful.
AO: First MMO I ever played, was very very laggy at the start, but good fun. I enjoyed the time i spent there.
Guild wars: Not really a MMO, was fun for a while before everyone started acting like it was CS and yelling noob 24/7 in chat.
CoH/V: Not really sure why i brought these, very fun at the start, but ultimatly completely shallow and lame.

EVE - subbed in june 03, still playing SWG - subbed from release for 2 months. Liked the crafting, but got bored of the grinding for skills CoH - played for 1 month, got bored of very samey missions WoW - played a few times for the odd month, best char was in 40s. Got bored of grind and constant need to group (groups are fairly immature in wow, i found). Also peeved at complete lack of any economy in the game, just the guff auction house
I got a jar of dirt!

Lineage2 beta LAme game character control wise if you asked me, was one of the bigest reasons for me not to start playing it.
Guildwars beta. THE MOST FUN I ever had in any MMO game was with the Guildwars beta events. One weekend of bliss. Stock up on energy drinks and play the whole damn weekend long. Back in those days the game was fun, even PVE and PVP. Great community back then.
When Guildwars went live the game hurdled down hill fast and the fun and the magic was gone. The game became infested with asses and that took away al but the most fun I had during my beta time there.
Thene came EVE Still here after more then a year. But things are getting more boring by the day, so I think I`ll take an other brake from EVE like I did 2 time already and come back when Kali 1 hits TQ.

World of Warcraft Played it for 1.5 years, got bored. Leveled up 3 60 rogues (Dwarves/Troll only), other classes never appealed me. Raided quite a lot, from ZG to AQ40 and Naxx trash mobs. Raiding got me exhausted, 6PM to midnight 6 days per week kinda kills you.
The WoW community itself is mediocre. Too many kids going around like "lol y r u their?". The servers were laggy/crashed all the time. PvP was a boring grind that required you to play 10+ hours every day for 2 months in order to get access to the PvP gear.
Also, got sick of waiting for an item to drop in dungeons. And when it finally drops, some loot***** takes it and isn't using it.
I never had any problems finding myself an high-end raiding guild or groups, even as a rogue. So thumbs up for that.
But yeah, it got boring.

DnL: Gave it a shot, basicly a great game with the worst developers on the planet to put it bluntly.
SWG: Played until the NGE took over and completly raped the game of all it's goodness. Was my first MMORPG and the first game that actually made me sad when I had to leave it. Not to mention it was this SW geeks fantasy come true :P
CoH/CoV: Still play this, but it can get boring after awhile. The key is to have people you play with on when you're on. Otherwise it sucks and forget about soloing it.
GW: Great graphics here and good content. But to many other games too top priority for me so I basicly stopped playing.
WoW: Played for several months, 30 something Warlock, and a 60 Mage. Both Alliance. The game was fun while getting the first character to 60, but soon after lost it's joy. I didn't see much of the "End Game" stuff and I really didn't care to. I knew it'd just be the same old stuff that's in MC just tougher and who wants to spend hours and hours trying to do the same thing over and over again? Not me.
Eve: Honestly? One of the best MMORPGs I've played. Great combat, great skill setup, great manufactoring setup, great developers, great player benifits (EVE TV/Radio), great community. By far one of the best games (MMO or not) that I've played, and I'm certain that th 20,000+ population will agree with me on that. ------------------------------------------------

Hmm...
1. Eve Online. Played for a few months, then quit. Reasons: Got bored (honestly) and had money problems.
2. FFXI. Read above reasons, lol.
3. COH. Boring. Plain and simple.
4. Lineage 2. Controls were horrible.
5. COV. Thought it might be more interesting with villains. Character creation was great, and the most in depth ever, but still same old bore-fest.
6. WoW. I held out as long as I could, then had to try it. Enjoyed it for the longest time on a RP server, then just lost interest. Same old stuff.
7. Auto Assault. Beta'd it, community deteriorated shortly before release, then failed miserably. Got a 14-day trial in my Guild Wars: Factions box, so tried it live. Still sucks.
8. RF Online. So far, I'm enjoying it. I like the combination of Sci-Fi/Fantasy (which is why I hold Final Fantasy 7 & 8 in such high regard). We'll see where it goes.
9. Eve Online. I came back 3 months after I quit before, with 3 accounts. Played it alongside of COH/COV, WoW, and now RF Online and Guild Wars (I lead the guild Team of Random Naysayers or "ToRN"). Been here ever since. Something just wouldn't let me give EVE up for long. ----------------------------------------- Will Work for a Cool Sig!

Played Phantasy Star Online on the DC back in the day ... not sure if that counts, but I loved it, so I say it does.
My first real mmorpg was WoW, played it as a warrior 'till about 35, took a break, played as a priest until about 45. Grew tedious, repetitive, and I couldn't keep up with my friends, so I left.
Tried out a number of them for short periods: Auto Assault (middingly fun, gave me slight nausea from the motion, should've been just an rpg), Anarchy Online (ugly... and empty), Everquest 2 (surprisingly it's ugly, and basically just a differently flavored WoW.)
I don't recall what drove me to try Eve in the first place, aside from 'huh, highly rated, non-declining population, let's try it out'. Felt a little overwhelmed at first, but also hooked by my stylin' reaper. Been here longer than any other game now... |

Planetside. Was tons of fun for the first year, then they introduced Core Combat and BFR's and completely ruined the game. Plus my new graphics card caused all kinds of graphics corruption that I never could get rid of.

Played eve for a few months about 8 months ago, had to stop due to not having enough time to dedicate to a game of this caliber but reupped my sub last month and am enjoying it as much as i did when I first played. Awesome game, probably will stick with it.
Still Play MxO, but have been dedicating more time to eve lately to up my skills. MxO's combat revamp was the best thing that ever happened to it, not to say i didnt like the old system but the new one kicks ass. All that game needs is more content and it will be golden. PvP is awesome.
As Far as none mmo's I'll never stop playing cs, cz:cs and cs:s.

My first was SWG. Played for year and half. I'm not some fanboi who will sing its praises, it was always ridiculously flawed, but I'll always remember it and appreciate it. Was ready to quit after first couple weeks, but then the guy who would become my best mmo friend ever found me, showed me the ropes, introduced me to guild that I would stay with til day I quit. Quit after NGE hit, saw most of my friends in guild leave, realized that everything I had worked so hard for amounted to ****. Played EVE for month after NGE, then went to CoV cause couple of former SWG guildies told me to. Played that for while, loved char creation but grew bored real fast. Seemed like a chore to play. Quit after SWG buddies took off to play WoW, I took up EVE again. Just got WoW guest key from buddy couple days ago, finally decided to give it a try, not impressed so far. When friend's email says "warrior is best, then paladin, but don't roll a warrior cause we don't need anymore", tends to put me off a bit lol. Still don't think any mmo will compare to swg for me, in all its flawed glory. Felt really free playing that game, never was a fotm nut, and think I was closer to my guild there than I'll ever be again.

World of warcraft for 1year 4 months. ended up with 2 vl 60's 1 50 a selection of little alts, then my acc was hacked everything sold/destroyed. blizz gave me back the chars but none of the equipment and wa told basically tough ****. i eventually picked up the pieces but it wast the same. (and left with a deep atred of blizzard)
Then all of 3 days go the hubbie talked me into trying eve, i was like 'yeah... its spaceships,' but he pestered me, i downloaded free trial, but didnt expect much, yeah the grahics ae beautiful, but what else was there?
Within 24hours i'd paid for full game, canceled wow, and said "byeeeeeeee" to my old guild in wow.
Its just nice to be able to be individual rather than one of 50,000 players with the same equipment, same rank, same class, wow 0-60 i loved the endless sameness grind of 60 is ***king dreadful.

Only other MMO I have tested is that new Eudemons Online thingy.
My analysis:
Avoid at all costs!!!
Holy crap, this game is terrible...
Spent a good couple of hours downloading it only to be sent back in time to the graphical and gameplay ages of 1998.
Also, if you really want a laugh, try and read the fonts - its completely impossible to make out what anything says.
I guess its still in Beta or something, but that still doesn't excuse the developers from creating a pathetic and even worse version of Guild Wars. Kudos for trying, but they failed
Anyone else tried it?

Well, there was Civilization II. But all my opponents were imaginary.
I knew a guy with an Everquest account and watched it for about 5 minutes once. Same with a relative with a Baldur's Gate account. That was fun, but maybe I should have picked a better time to play than during the family reunion.
I'm not very good at MMOs. Don't have any stamina to keep doing the same thing more than two times in a row without getting distracted. Seven Deadly Sins

Played a few in my time, mmo's or online fps are really the only two types of games i play regularly.
Planetside: Played loads early on, was the CEO of Total Oblivion for a while and got us to the top 5 outfits on Wener server. Had to leave for RL reasons and never got back into it. (plus soe looked like they had ruined it)
SWG: Started well but the lack of content was totally lacking and "Player-made" content was pretty much non-existant. Eve is the only game to successfully pull that off so far. And it looked like SOE were going dfown totally the wrong road.
EQ2: Played a troll shammy in beta and loved it then played a Rat assassin to about 55 and a few alts on splitpaw and runnyeye servers. Again (see the pattern...) soe ruined it by trying to be a wow clone.
WOW: Never really got into it, way too easy and full of nooblitards.
FFXI: Never got into it either.
Linage 2: Was in Beta but way too grindy and japanese for me. -----

Edited by: Dale Cussler on 09/08/2006 19:37:11 In somewhat chronological order:
1) Everquest -- started playing a few months after it was released. A friend talked me into it. Played that right about up to the time that...
2) Dark age of Camelot -- this one came out. Left EQ since it got boring and went to DAoC because it looked like a ****load of fun. Played that for a while, then occasionally reactivated my account because I was busy playing...
3) Earth & Beyond -- it was fun at first but the scope of the game was very limited. Mining and trading were actually somewhat fun. I left E&B when I heard things about...
4) EVE Online -- heard about this game right before the last beta phase was going to begin so I figured I might as well try to get myself invited to the beta. It worked. Been here ever since, with a bunch of gaps in the middle due to real life issues.
Mixed in between these "bigger" 4 were:
Anarchy Online -- played a few months and got bored with the lag Planetside -- played this for a few months and then woke up wondering why the frack I was paying for a FPS EQ2 -- failed to live up to the hype WoW -- quit after my free first month ran out. Couldn't deal with the target audience, and the omg-so-schweeeeeet-and-cute colours and style.
I've also dabbled a little in Auto Assault (avoid this at all costs), Horizons (it was... weird), and Asheron's Call 2 (it sucked).

Ultima Online : Played for more than a year, left cause my pals left. It's still one of the best game (if not the best) when it comes to social interactions in mmorpgs.
DAOC : Played it for 3 years. It was awsome until TOA came and now it's just a Medieval Counter Strike. Daoc is the ONE example why you should not listen too much to the players. Had some brillant ideas (mostly coming from ultima online but even tho..) but they really ruined the fun for making it too easy and failed miserably at finding some equilibre in classes. I think it's even the only game I know that managed to do worse at every extension. I am sooooo thanksfull at CCP for not implementing an official killmail system for all I said above.
WoW : Played it for 2 months, have a lot of friends that still play it but I see no point in a game without some kind of pvp (and I'm not talking about that stupid Unreal Tournament you can do in the instances).
I played to EQ, EQ2, AC, AC2, DOFUS, COH, and almost all the mmorpg out there but did not even play one month. --

Tried to remember the order as best I could:
Ultima Online: Got hooked because a friend forced me to give the game a try, and of course I discovered how much it rocks. Had maxed out... axe ability and heal etc, but I eventually quit because the community of friends I joined in the game sort of moved on. Much like EVE, UO was only as fun as the friends you played with (IMO).
EVE: Stared playing EVE like 2 months after retail, played for maybe 6 months then got frustrated and left due to a maniacal CEO takeover of the corp I was in (kept account active for most of the time and kept skills training).
Final Fantasy XI: After leaving EVE I grabbed FFXI along with my friend who got me to try UO. He left after a few months, however I continued to play and reached the max level after nearly 2 years of playing. Was the best experience I've had in gaming, but the endgame in FFXI (similar to other fantasy-based games) was terrible so I left probably a month after capping out.
Back to EVE: I returned to EVE with not as many sp as I would have had otherwise, but better off then canceling the account for two years. Been playing steady ever since.
Some other games I tried briefly: Guild Wars, DDO, and Face of Mankind in beta version. Were really bad comparitevly. Also, I maybe should have mentioned NWN as it's borderline MMO if played properly. --------- Want to purchase a T2 Ice Mining Barge, the Mackinaw? 1. Planetside. Played from May 2003 just after release. loved it but after i reached BR5 CR5 on Werner i got a bit bored. Played it on and off from January 2004 but after the BFR expancion i hardly logged on anymore. Took it up again in spring 2005 but got bored pretty fast.
2. EVE.
Installed a trial from a CD-Gamer magazine in January 2004 and have been hooked since. Actually i did a mistake when i installed and subscribed to the full game instead of playing on the trial cd-key as i had planned..
I'm currently on a 7 month break due to work, as i'm not allowed to play from work and when work is Herei cant play from home either as work and home is the same place. Have 2 months left out here now.

Dungeons and Dragons Online: - Fun game. Best PVE you could hope for. Quests were interesting and I enjoyed the artwork. Parties were always easy to find and could work with a variety of classes. The integration of ingame voice through the entire party is awesome as well. This game is severly lacking for content. I played for a couple weeks until my chracter(s) were already maxed out. They recently added an update which introduced the way to overpowered Drow. Lag was bad beforehand, but now its only gotten worse until its pretty much unplayable.
WOW - I liked this game alot, up until I grew bored after 2 months. There isn't much more to do than run around and hack things. Thats fun, but not when it takes you 2 hours to form a party to do it.
Eve - An MMO with DEPTH. Finally!
The only online games that can really satisfy mew with sufficient depth are MUDs. Even EVE could use more depth. I enjoyed the Avalon mud a lot when I still played it.

Lineage 2: Got tired of it. Was boring.
RF-Online: Beta Tested this. Was pretty fun. I want to buy it and pay for it. Only problem is lack of content. 1 Type of Gun per level (different for each race or whatnot). Though more content may have been added, alot of characters looked alike and were armed the same because of the lack of a diverse weapon and armor system. But Id check it out because I enjoyed it, even though there was a massive zerging I never got to pilot one of the Mechs cuz right when it was released, server was WIPED of all Beta characters
EVE-Online: Longest Ive played ANY MMORPG. Addicted and everything. Yea. <.<
