today i tested some F.O.F. cruise missles on a corp mate... >:) (sorry dude).
I encountered the following:
F.O.F. only launched when target attacked me, the second he didnt attack me the F.O.F. couldnt be launched.
How do F.O.F. work precise?
Is it possible to attack a target with F.O.F. who acts neutral towards you? Or is F.O.F. just a weapon to use for situations when your scrambled? __________________________

FoF missiles appear to only attack people who are locked onto your ship in the same way that defender missiles only intercept the missiles that have you as their target.
The thing is FoF missiles attack ANYBODY who is locked onto your ship. Including your mate running the tracking link and energy transfer modules.

The corp mate had me locked too, and didnt attacked me. Still the FOF didnt go for him
So basicly what a F.O.F. is for, is to use missles when your sensors are dampned or your sensors are scrambled...
But what about people with a negative security rating?
If they dont lock me, will the F.O.F. be launched anyway cuz of their threath? __________________________

you know FOF = Friend or Foe....what do you think your corpmate stands for? of course friend......if he's not attacking you, you can't fire FOF on him, that's for sure.

targeting doesn't mean anything, it's not an offensive action for sure.

yes. but it's not an offensive action, maybe many people is not familar with those heal moduals like shield transfer etc, they all need a lock.

So offensive action is reason for FOF to hit the target, but what does that mean for a negative security character. Will FOF hit these ppl at all times? __________________________

Ok after some serious testing with a negative (-5) char, we found out that F.O.F. only shoot ppl who locks you... not negative ppl. __________________________

Try F.O.F on NPC pirates really that is the only way your going to find out. but this is what I do know to be true, F.O.Fs are and have been broken since release. they (devs) have not addressed their issues. so really its a waist to use them. Last time I checked FOF only launched on ships that were attacking you... Been a while since I used them though. --------

The reason they are called Friend OR Foe missile sis because they do not discriminate between them. They will attack Friend Or Foe. They don't care which they are they just go after people locked onto your ship.

From using them against NPCs (was too lazy to pull them out of the launcher), a FoF will not fire even if the target has you locked until you take an actual hit from the target. You will get a message saying there are no valid targets in range of the launcher (FoF cruise should easily cover 35km).
However, when the first of their missiles hit me I was free to empty the racks. How the system interprets jamming, I'm unsure. Though I carry at least 50 FoF cruise missiles at all time with the intentions of trying to activate the launchers until I go down in flames for that specific purpose.
