I heard this skill affects not only modules reprocessing but also ore refining. Is this true? From what i read in the skill's description it only affects modules.

can you elaborate on ... umm, well what your talking about? 'cause I don't see how that'd really make much sense.
I mean when selling tags or something, it'd make a little bit of sense to pay more if they like you... or for there to be a cut in broker fees or tax... is that what you mean?
and on another note, having to log in 2 or 3 times per post is getting rather old.

Kel, you responded to the wrong thread.
Scrapmetal processing only affects modules and other ship related components (like ammo).
The only thing I'm unsure of are Rogue Drone alloy drops, and which specialized processing skill works on those.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

I remember reading a thread that said drone loot was essentially the same as other loot. So yeah, scrap metal 1 for 100%.

Its a random mission bonus, no specific mission will give you that reward, same with no specific agent.

Which skill affects reprocessing of compounds? I thought it was scrap metal processing, but don't know why I thought that.

If by "compounds" you mean the loots droped by Rogue Drones, then yes, Scrapmetal Processing is the skill to refine them ...

With Refinery efficiency V you get 99.5% on all reprocessing (except ore, which spells refining).
Scrapmetal Repro fills out the last 0.5% provided the station has 50% effic.
The requirements are high (Reff Eff V, Metallurgy V), but if you want to efficiently refine Ice or Arch, Crok, Bist, Mercox or Ice you need Refinery Eff V anyway and also Metallurgy IV too.

The requirements on this particular skill are rediculous as the only people that are gonna have a skill like refinery efficiency V are miners and miners dont have stations full of junk like us combat mission running pilots. Dont think they got the requirements at all right on this skill
Personally i think if you put the time in as a miner you should get 100% efficiency with RE5 rather than force metallurgy and scrap metal on them aswell
And i think its silly that people that have a million and one modules need to get a miner friend to reprocess them all or waste at least a month or 2 training up not combat related skills.
I suppose with these skills i'm now only about 3weeks away from flying a covetor and i've never mined a day in my life lol
Just a thought but maybe drop the requirements to just refining 5 and say science 4-5 mechanic 4-5

So, basically, you just need to train scrapmetal to lvl 1 or 2 to get 100% on all kind of modules? At a station with 50% that is.

SMP to 1 will give you 100% on a 50% station SMP5 will not give 100% on 33% stations - but will help.
at one time SMP only needed RE4 but it got changed soon after release. [I was 1 hour from getting it when it changed ;-(] so had to do RE5 [needed that anyway]

if you are a combat mission runner, then what do you need refined minerals for? just sell the junk! there's always someone buying almost everything...
