CCP should offer tiered accounts.... say for an extra $5/month, they allow two of your characters to train at the same time and an extra $9/month and all three can train...
makes sense? I'm not about to go out and buy another full game just to train multiple characters... I know a lot of people do, but most won't. Tiered accounts would provide an easy way to allow this and also solve the (alt-character-spy) issue since people wouldn't be as likely to waste an alt-character on this..

I completly agree... At least you paid the game not for playing only a character...I fear there is no *REAL* advantage in having 3 slots and being able to train only one at once.
Yes, you can start a new character when you wanna recruit, say bullsH“ts, or simply change your mind...But training your new character means letting the other one in a frozen state...
So having 3 slots an being able to use only one is stupid...
If my brother wanna play his character, I have to stop my training in order he can train his...
When you got 5 or more mail accounts with your ISP, you don't have to stop receiving mails to one account to allow another one to work
I hope they will add such a feature... I don't mind paying 5$ more for training skills on 2 characters... (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

It sounds like a good idea. Why not just open up a secondary account? I do realize the cost would be higher, but you ask for a 25%-50% discount with the only disadvantage being you cannot have two characters online at one time.
It doesnĘt sound like a lucrative venture to attempt to create a new accounting/billing system and character system to handle such activities. I also would foresee a higher demand on customer service as individuals change their mind and desire to add and remove the training abilities.

While you cannot enter as a head pilot you can be a wingman to a pilot. From the reading, it sounds like even being an Amarr, does not guarantee you entrance.
Squad leader or Wingman, still sounds like fun. Plus it is kind of cool to wonder what other racial type events might occur?

They do!
for $12/month, you can train one character
for $24/month, you can train two characters!
for $36/month, you can train three characters!
oooh, and for $48/month, you can even train FOUR!
I am the master of the obvious! I am Dee.

Good idea. I bet most of use would pay *almost* double for an account that can train all 3 characters at once.
And yes, I actually do have a second account, and in fact I'd like to be training more than one character on it too :P

or as sugested a extra payment.
i coudl scrap my otehr accounts then. ----

easy way to get around it -
if you want to activate your second char, then you pay the retail you would have paid for the game for a second account, and then you pay the additional monthly as normal. That way, those with 2,3,4 whatever accounts, won't feel hard done by. -------------------------------------------- Dead

Most MMO's don't fall into the trap of creating 'Gold' accounts, where players pay extra for enhanced chars. But they're not crazy enough to do much to discourage multi-acount players. This idea is sort in a gray area between those.
I'd be in favor of dropping the upfront cost, but being able to train 2 or 3 chars at a time is a tremendous benefit to that player, so I wouldn't want it discounted very much if at all.
I know quite enough 'respectable' players who have bad-guy alts that they trot out when the mood strikes them. But at least these part-time pirate chars usually didn't have as high skills as a real pirate/PKer. So this idea might make alt-spys less common, but it would make alt-griefers more common and more powerful. Plus it would relegate even more lawful roles to alt-mule status (like research and refining are already).

This is definately a good idea, and ccp'd have 5$ or whatever more from me every month.
All the time its only possible to use one char at a time from the same account, it is a gain/gain situation for the players and ccp.

I wouldn't be surprised if CCP does something like this after a year or so of release. New games will come out and threaten their client base. All games do it, to keep dedicated players just that, dedicated. If they did it now, they lose the leverage of doing it later when they will want us around most. And all that *new* training would keep people around for quite some time.
I dunno about paying extra, perhaps, although they will probably just allow u to train multiple chars for the standard monthly fee. Kinda like in DAOC, you get free level 20-30's if you have a level 50 char on any of their servers.

I would Agree and pay the extra 3 Dollars.

It would help and make sense to be able to have alt charactors training.
Thanks EvilDoomer

Edited by: Captain Cornholio on 03/10/2003 20:50:37 Its possible since you were able to do just that in beta. Of course when they implemented the one character can train rule, a huge bug appeared at launch the prevented people from training any skill for a week.
And yes, charge money for this service, since ccp needs it. Please just be mindful of the code. I really don't want to experience that skill training bug again.

has my vote... and I do have two accounts.
I don't know why it's thought of as a potential problem sense you can only play one character on a single account at any given time. So there is still a very big advantage to having two accounts. ah, Fujiko... |

*read it, liked it, bumped it*
I must say though that I find it odd why this limitation exists. I am assuming that it is not due to technical limitations.
I can almost see why it shouldn't be possible to train more than one character at a time because training in this game is the equivalent to work you would put into leveling a character in another MMOG and of course you can only do that with one character at a time. But then again, since CCP was trying to get away from the level-treadmill model and technically 2 characters have nothing binding in common, there is no reason why what you are doing with one should restrict what you do with the other.
So I guess I am still trying to figure out why(before I might complain about it :-). People in this thread mentioned that it was possible in the beta and they took it out. Does anyone have any more insights into why?
I do understand what has been mentioned about people being able to have more powerful griefer alts. That is why I think this slight pay increase idea is good because I think far less people would actually pay extra money just to ruin other's fun as opposed to those who really just want to be able to have a different role play/character experience without waiting 2 eve lifetimes for both experiences to be worth while.
But then again, I can see how in the future people might forget it was ever like this and just say "this sucks, what a rip, I can have 3 characters but if I want to be able to train the other 2 at the same time they want to charge me". Sometimes it is hard to win....
