Edited by: Serihon on 08/07/2006 02:40:04 Hello everyone. I have been playing Eve for about three months now and have recently started learning more about jump clones. They seemed like a superb idea and I was highly motivated to get some. I did more research and found out that you can only use a jump clone once every 24 hours, which is way to long to be useful for most applications. For example, the corporation I am in just recently moved to Caldari space and I have an R&D agent in Amarr space. Jump clones would allow me to save a lot of time, if only they were usable faster than they currently are. Currently my three jump clones are pretty useless due to the long downtime between clone jumps. I know that some use them to much satisfaction with military jumps, but I am talking about using them for other things. Due to this problem that I have had, and I am sure others dislike the very long re-use timer, I have come up with an idea for the Devs, which I am not sure it has been stated or spoken of before. I think that the Devs should either lower the length between uses or they should implement a skill that you can train to lower the length between using your jump clones. These are just some ideas I have come up with and a few of my corp mates have agreed to be good ideas. I would like to get as many people as possible to post in agreement to this so that the Devs can see that we would like this ability to be changed or improved upon to become more useful. Thanks.

I agree with the idea of a skill to decrease the cool-down time to make another "jump"

Gah, more skills, more skills...
Pretty soon you will need to train Advanced Handshaking V just to log in quicker...

You, me and everyone else that uses jump clones want some way to make the "cool down" time shorter. But...
You will probably have more devs ignore this thread rather than read it with the whole, "Devs take a look" bit in the title.
And uhhh.. probably change the tone a little. Instead of the "I have an idea that you simply MUST consider and implement SOON!"...
To a more constructive...
You, the omnipotent Gods of our universe, have given us the gift of Jump Clones and it was found to be excellent and we collectively applaud you for such a miracle. Please oh great ones, hear our cries to extend this wonderous gift and grant your humble children the power to shorten the evil "cool down" period which binds us to our mortal flesh for such an extended period of time.
or something like that.. |

Jump clones aren't supposed to be a way to travel around quicker, they are meant to an "oh crap >alliance/corp< is attacking my >station/pos/exotic dancers< I better jump there now!!!.
Not a way for everyone to travel around without undocking. I can see all the carebears now "why should I go through low-sec when i can just jump clone around it in X amount of minutes. |

Jump clones already made the universe smaller. Lets just hope CCP will not introduce ways to shorten the period (would be especially bad if you could jump twice during your normal gaming session).
Short cool down period would be nice in same way than having million m^3 cargo hold on t1 frigate. Cool to have, but in the end would just break the game a bit more.

Edited by: Pattern Clarc on 10/07/2006 11:08:16 I only really just jump clones for storing implants...
I often self destruct my clone in times of crisis. And ask my corp for a couple mill in clone re-inbursment fee's for my services

People can self destruct to jump anyware their corp has an office. The only point of a jump clone is to store implants and to jump to someware that has no corp office (titan or random station for example. Also isk is an issue for self destructing a pod, and this may be a factor.
So, is the above something that hurts eve? That is the real issue with the 24hr timer --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

I can see an arguement for dropping the time to 18 hours at the absolute lowest.
That would mean I could log on, do stuff and then jump somewhere to do stuff before I logged off, and when I logged on the next day I'd be able to jump again.
As for a skill, perhaps, increase jump clone refresh time to 28 hours and have the skill drop it by 2 per level trained. Not a new skill, just the existing one.

I would much prefer if they removed them all togeter. i have 3 and i use them (to store implants mostly), but i think they take away from the game, i dont like the fact that you can keep your ex*****ve implants in a jumpclone for safe keeping when times are rough, and i dont like instant free travel around eve. (destructing pod is costly... and if you did that lots you could not have implants, now however you can just leave the implants in a clone and self destruct to your harts content).
EVE is big, and risky. i dont like anything that makes it smaller and safer. therefore i disagree with reducing there coolofftime.

Also if you feel strongly that they detract from "the game" then why are you using them?
I, on the other hand, would like the timer reduced to something like 1hr. Just put a cost per jump of something like 1m and remove the silly "corp standing" requirement for NPC factions - would make the game more playable than the "I'm now spending 30 minute so of my life doing 30 hops in empire... sigh". Also isk sinks in 2 ways - first is that lots more people would buy clones, the second is that you'd probably need even more ships scattered around that mostly sit unused but cost you to buy them :)

Add in clone facilities to POS's, remove them from NPC stations.

Are these Clone Vats for the Motherships in game yet ?
Consider this, your ally has two MS with clone bays and you have reduced your jump timer by 12 hours via this stupid new skill you propose.
You could then jump from one end of the universe to the other every 12 hours easily, scince both MS can jump 20 jumps per shot with their inherent drives, effectively moving around your whole alliance all about EvE in 12 hours and back, if a MS can store an unlimited amount of Clones. Only limit would be jump fuel.
Such a feature would make EvE so small that territorial conflict would only be a matter of having a good laugh (its much like that now anyway) and trading would be obsolete, which is limited to hubs right now also.
Dont make EvE even smaller, it takes away the fun.
Jump Clones are fine right now.
btw: the devs are on holiday anyway. ________________________________________________
