Hi, My corp is thinking about setting up another corp for training new players before they join our main corp. We are not sure whether this will work effectively or not though. Does anyone have anything like this currently in place?
Many Thanks, Technosites - Beagle Corp ------------------------------------- "We would change the world, but God wouldn't give us the source code."

Eve University does just this.
However, pilots are not required to join any of the other corps in our alliance. They are free to go where they like once they feel they have gotten enough training / experience in game play.

It working nice when you have dedicated and experienced people inside training corp who will teach your noobs. Additionaly, noobs will not participated into the official wars and you can exclude thefts from main corporation hangars.
I preffer to recruit peoples by groups in the same ingame age. It will works fine because you can teach them one way and not waves about skillpoint difference.
When all off them will be ready to operate in main corporations you can move all people in group to main corporation and start to recruit new group for training corp.
Good luck ---------------------------------------------

I recruit, integrate, and train new Tharsis members in waves. Recruit 3-4 new people, let them get to know the corp, gel with one another and the older members, and learn the tricks of the trade. When things are feeling nice and stabilized a month or two down the road, I go and repeat the process if we need new members.
A training academy has its pluses and minuses. On the plus side, its a clear disinction once you graduate that the corp considers you a full member, you can keep corp thefts lower by weeding out unfit recruits, and do things oriented towards them (like "who can scan me down first day!"). On the flip side, recruiting directly into your corp can boost morale and allow anyone in your corp to train them (which is a good thing if your member base is knowledgable), and they can get firsthand experience rather than watching from sidelines.
Your choice ultimately.

Thanks for the replys guys. Would you be able to give me some more details of how your training corps work, e.g. what problems do you how across, how do you recruit, how much of a success is it, how many trainers pers numb. of recruits do you have, etc.
Any detailed info you can give me without secruity issues would be nice :)

one main question we have got it, how long does it take for them to have enough pvp experience and training to fit into a specialist PvP corp?

It's a smart idea, esp. if your corp is 00.
It allows the new players to expirence a corp + if you get your 00 hosts to allow the 'feeder' (FREEE's term for our trainer corp, Tribalwar INC.) then they can get access to 00 when they're ready.
Overall, great idea. Keep their offices semi stocked with stuff and minerals, and they can expirement wiht making stuff and organizing hangars. ---------------------------------------- Friends Forever

It also lets us weed out the pilots that have no brains whatsoever, and take on the ones that are eager and prove to be worthwhile.
Just in the last few months we've gotton some excellent young pilots from our training corp. One of them loves getting podded and will jump into anything.
You will have cases where the pilots in the feeder corp will be inept yet want to move on to the main, and it sucks to tell them they're crap, but ya know...

If you do a training corp, make sure that you have a vent/TS channel that all your members from all corps are in.
OR
if you have a half dozen people who will be innoculating your new recruits, they should be ok, but haveing a common vent/ts server is better as it allows the newbies to get to know the main players in your corps, as well as hearing about how to fit ships and how game mechanics work and so on.
If they're completely seperate, a lot of knowledge your full members have won't get to the new people as fast, and they may quit becuase of the lack of contact.
