Hello,
We know that the Proteus, with is 100 mbit/s bandwidth, can't deploy a full set of heavy drone like any drone boat. I was wondering why, and so I've read some stuff on the forum, saying that it would create an Ishtar with 5x more EHP. Ok, it sounds kinda OP.
So, what's the use of the drone synthesis projector ? His gun bonus is useless since you can fit only 3 guns if you want a correct drone bay, but the max 100 mbit/s makes your applied DPS weaker than a gun Proteus. |

You can use it for WH ratting, as you can put a salvager, tractor, and probe launcher in the 3 other high slots so you can salvage and loot while killing the rats to increase efficiency, as well as keep probes out to keep an eye on the hole. The PG you save from only running 3 guns lets you fit a 100mn AB for even more gank avoidance as well. |

If you don't have Salvaging V, make sure to fit a salvage tackle rig or you won't be able to salvage battleships. |

Thanks to this thread, I took another look at Proteus-subsystems before deciding between Caldari Cruiser V and Gallente Cruiser V.
Did you know there is a subsystem giving a bonus on warp disruptor/-scrambler range? I guess I found my next skill goal!  |

Yep, that's why the Proteus is such a good ship in PvP, combined with his herculean EHP pool. |

I used to run a Proteus as a Mini-Marauder (48 km tractors) in missions.
It was a nice, relaxing, less than optimum ISK generator.
Then the null sec cartels whispered in CCP's ear, and presto magic, drones were wrecked (first heavies with the AI that insta killed anything but sentries, then of course the sentry drone nerf) for a Proteus, and now, salvaging is utter garbage.
Do yourself a favour, and focus on other ships but the Proteus. Remember, there is a serious nerf coming for T3''s in general, but especially, the Proteus's PvP setup, and of course, any remnants of a PVE setup. |

I've done plenty of ratting in w-space, I know exactly how the drone **** works. You will lose some light drones on the heavy frig waves but not medium/heavies if you know what you're doing. |

The drone sub on the proteus is really stupid. 100m3 is pretty **** and even to get that you have to go through hurdles. You either can't pick the highest velocity sub or you only have 3 mids if you want 100m3 bandwidth. Otherwise you get 75m3 bandwidth and 125m3 drone bay which is unusable.
I just want the proteus to be able to have an AB sub and 125m3 drone synthesis sub with velocity/tracking bonus (no range so that it isn't like the ishtar). |

Nobody asked for changes to omnis, we all told CCP the problem was drone assist en masse.
salvaging hasn't changed, and loot really hasn't changed either. We did that test remember, loot value is in meta 4s.

Its still capable of completing piths penal and the maze in T2 fits as a droneboat (which is far closer to its "role" than L4 missions), and in some ways actually got a little better with the last patch because it came with an improvement to wardens, which it relies on more than an Ishtar does.
