Yeah, it's a bit wonky. Make sure your BPs are in your factory station, make sure the API sees your BPs, and click the little checkbox. Should get a list of your BPs, then you can set quantities, then you'll probably need to log out and back in before they actually show in your build queue.
The whole thing seems finnicky as hell so far.

S.J.,
Just read your recent page update on "EPM and the new producer", where you recommend starting with "the best small control tower, the best capital rig, and maybe the best bomb". I was surprised to see the control tower there. Yeah, it's at the top of the research report, along with a bunch of other POS stuff, but I thought POSes are going away, so I'm surprised there's still a market for 'em. But okay, I'll give it a shot.
In your introductory video, which I also just reviewed, you mention an "uploader" early in the process. You're in the market, looking at the details for your sell items, and clicking the export link. You said something to the effect that your uploader watches for these. Is this still a thing, what with Crest, and if so where do I get this uploader, and is there a Mac version?
One thing I'm doing is buying BPOs for stuff I want to try to build, and then researching them. Which means they're not available for production. I guess I should buy BPCs for that until I can produce my own. Is that how you do it, or do you just buy BPCs and not worry about BPOs? |

Not sure how this is supposed to work. All my BPs are in my factory station, and the api sees them. So I go to "build items" and the list is empty. Click the "show all" box, and my BPs (that aren't in research) show up. But the only thing I can change on that list is batch size GÇö-áthe "quantity" column is not editable. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
My current list of BPs is frigates (all of them, I think), mining crystals, scanner probes, hybrid ammo, projectile ammo, and a couple of missiles. About half the list is red, with negative profit margins and markups. Build them and lose money, I get that. But a couple of the red ones have positive, though small, profit factors. I don't get that. Can I make a small profit building those items?
The ones that aren't in red should be profitable, although the profit factor is small. Under 1,000,000 for most items, under 100,000 for about half, though mining crystals seem to have good margins and two of those have profit factors over 1,000,000. Best is Crokite at 3 million plus.
Should I trust EPM and build the top ten items on this list, at least until i get some better BPs off the Market Research list?
But my real concern is understanding this "quantity" thing. If I should be able to edit it, why can't I?
BTW, last night I waited 20 minutes for "refresh api" to finish. It didn't, so I went to bed. It was finished when I got up this morning, though. Not sure why the slow-down.
One other thing: the last three items on this list are Victorieux Luxury Yacht, Thalia (new T2 frigate GÇö I made the BP as an experiment), and Council Diplomatic Shuttle. On these, the profit factor is blank. Not enough information to compute it? Do I need to change something somewhere? |

Batch size is what I meant. Calm down. :P

 I haven't been able to get it to behave long enough to really play with it. The market research report generally seems solid, though I wish you could drill down to the underlying data simply for the sake of verification. You will definitely want to combine what it tells you with general game knowledge, though. For instance...

...the yacht and shuttle aren't really viable candidates anyway - they are limited edition.

Hello SJ Astralana, EPM appears to be down. Do you know what's happening? or can you provide a working link.
Thank you |

Okay, today, when I authenticate my login, it throws me back to the login screen. Anyone else seeing this?
It's beginning to look like I either need to get out of T1 production, or find some other app to support it. I don't really want to build spreadsheets or try to build my own copy of this thing. Any suggestions? |

I don't understand what part of "no longer supported" is causing confusion.
As for suggestions, IPH (or, really, any other industrial tool ever made) and a modicum of common sense still work just fine.

I wasn't asking "Goddammit, who's going to fix this, and why isn't it done already?" I was asking if this was some problem at my end of this, or if everybody sees it.
SJ said the app was going to remain available, though on a "free" site, and with no support. It now appears that either that is not the case, or something has broken the app. Either way, yeah, go do something else.

Obviously I've been on hiatus. I indicated 4 Feb would be the sunset date, and only today I converted to the free subscription. There has been some work on the repo by a volunteer to get self-hosted EPM viable, maybe that'll get some more traction. Zafrian has also burned out. You can't imagine the level of effort to bring production quality software to a robust reliable state when working solo unless you've done it. Doing it solo with an almost void level of reward means it will always have an expiry.
I had a look today and some of EPM's long-term users are still ticking along. I agree it sucks having to do this on spreadsheets, but if this is a project that deserves to live, the level of effort to run it locally isn't insurmountable. My last month I clocked over 20bil profit and a third of a tril NAV and at that point even the personal challenge was gone.

I absolutely loved using this tool, I was fortunate to find it when I started playing and it kept me going a few more months than I would have by preventing a spreadsheet burnout for production calculations. Took a little hiatus from the game and saw SJ Astralana had stopped hosting the site. Real shame that but, I can only imagine the monetary cost of running the app plus the obvious effort put into the code of the application got old after a while. Still, at least we got the source and some good experience with EPM -- thanks JTD!
Anywho, the now-locked forum thread announcing the retirement of the web app had a couple of people pulling the source from bitbucket and trying to get it to build to hopefully run a local version of EPM. I was just wondering if anyone else was still working on this or if everyone just gave up after seeing those dependency errors? |
