Looking through the boards and the number of players throught the 24hr period they are seriuosly declining.
Several of the Large Corps have done a mass quit, and now only the hardcore members bother to come online.
CCP you need to take stock of this situation and release some damn content, upgrades all the stuff you prommised.
I think only the players that bought a 6months subscription are actually sticking it out. The game has had a massive addiction factor, but now that addiction factor has worn off we need more...... and you just aren't supplying it.

It's just every ducklet feeling a need to come here and declare that they have quit instead of just fading into the night.

Leli,
Going to let you in on a secret: this is how forums are for ALL MMOGs. SWG, EnB, NC, EQ, DAoC, etc. all full of pepole complaining about this, whining about that, saying they're leaving the game, etc. You may have watched server populations for 24 hours to come to the conclusion the game is dying, but try doing it for a year or two. You'll see variations from season to season, due to holidays, school seasons, etc.

I dont see too much of a decline. I still see 5000+ users every once in a while.
But, like Drethen said, when in doubt take a month off. Its basically what I am doing since I am restricted from playing it until my report cards come out in like 2 weeks.

Heh, that sucks man. :) You know, any time I log in I'm /always/ seeing mid 4k to mid 5k people on. Maybe some people wouldn't be such naysayers if they didn't log in always five minutes after a server restart. :)

Okay, Stats analysis for beginners:
Ideally we'd have details of the number of registered active accounts which would give us our info there and then, but of course CCP won't release this so we havw to go by active player information instead. With this in mind:
1. Max users is irrelevant for this study, as it does not accurately reflect trends.
2. Average user numbers do reflect trends, and this is what we need to look at.
3. Average user numbers are steadily dropping, as can be seen both in the numbers on the eve-i charts, and on the graphs themselves.
4. At the moment this trend is slow, but significant. Unless something is done to reverse this trend, by CCP and/or their publishers, the playerbase will be reduced to the point where the game isn't worth running any more.

I have seen one of these threads "EVE Dieing!" every few days since I started playing ... the reasons given usually include:
- player base dwindling! - my whole corp is quitting! - there's no new content! - the economy is collapsing!
The only truth to any of this is that some people migrate from new game to new game trying "the best" ships/units/armor/weapons as fast as they can and others play the game. No reason to worry 'til those who play the game get bored and leave. That isn't happening yet.
What is funny, is if you go to a major forum for any online game, you will see the exact same threads with the exact same reasons, doesn't matter if it is Earth & Beyond, JumpGate, Star Wars Galaxies, Ultima Online, EverQuest, or Johnny WhoDunIt.

You are just SO wrong.
Active players over the last 6 months = 3055 avg users. Active players over the last week = 3075 avg users.
If we look at the last three months the number is 3186 though... But from 3186 to 3075...lol that's not much. 3% or something like that.
The maximum number of players logged on at the same time is declining though... 5510 last sunday, 5594 two and a half week ago. Almost 6000 three months ago.
But it's still not a catastrophe, under 15%. It's normal for all MMOG's. The game is released, people buy it. But not everyone continues to play.
It's quite stabilized right now though, IMO. Look at Planetside, there you have something that's going down.
Nieda: yes, EVE doesn't have nearly as many players as DAoC. What's your point? We're not talking about total number of players here and how DAoC has something over 200k (I think) and EVE around 40k... We're talking about how the numbers are going down :)

"Churn" is an issue, certainly, and of course some players will move on to the Next Big Thing once they're "done" with Eve.
The problem here is that there are fewer people signing up than there are leaving, and so the playerbase continues to shrink.
Without increasing the numbers of new players joining, eventually Eve's playerbase will be reduced to a few truly dedicated players.
I'm not leaving, and I know lots of other people who aren't planning on it either, but I don't want to end up flying through an empty galaxy only ever talking to NPCs or myself.
This game needs NUMBERS for it to be truly successful, and the window of opportunity for Eve's publishers to achieve those numbers is slowly closing, and this will further narrow with every other new MMORPG release.
For Eve to truly live up to it's potential - even the potential of what is already in the game, never mind what has been promised for the future - it needs to be MASSIVELY multiplayer. Otherwise it will end up as just another footnote in gaming history.

The main thing is that a lot of experienced players are quitting EVE. In some cases, their loss is good news, for example I for one don't miss j0rt, Gauss or Zapp. OTOH it is true that whole corps of experienced players have left seeking greener pastures, and the servers stats are stable only because an influx of new players is keeping up with people leaving. Once the global game community (who have the access and hardware to run EVE) have all tried it and either stayed, quit or never got into it, what's going to replace all the quitters?
CCP needs to bring in enough exciting new stuff to get some of the quitters to re-subscribe. Preferably not the orig m0o though....

"This game needs NUMBERS for it to be truly successful, and the window of opportunity for Eve's publishers to achieve those numbers is slowly closing, and this will further narrow with every other new MMORPG release"
I could not have said it better myself.
This game needs 20k players on-line on average to make CCP's design flourish. The game is really suffering right now from all the bad reviews it recieved (IMHO), and the DEV team is suffering because of this (trying to fit a square peg in a round hole).
CCP should consider scaling back the EVE Universe, mainly to decrease the size of Empire controlled space and force more PC interaction.
The game mechanics do not allow the game to be as fun as it should be with so many damn empty systems, and all those alliances...
However, I for one think it is too late, this game was improperly marketed, and eventhough this game is better than SWG, SWG stole a lot of players that would be playing EVE right now if the game was not broken so badly.
I hope I can return to a game in 3 months with 10k players on-line at a time, but I fear that is just wishful thinking.
