Hey guys I am trying to write my character's background and need some help as I am new and don't know the whole Eve history. Here is the basic things I came up with.Character is from Gallente and is currently member of EVE U -is very much into wars -is about justice and legality -parents killed by "whatever ennemies of Gallente",raised in orphanage.Joins Eve U to learn,be able to avenge his parents amd protect the innocent
Suggestions?

I have nothing to do with RP, but isn't that a bit cliched?

If he likes wars and has a sense of justice than just make a background on how he used to work in the Gallente Federation as a part of CONCORD, his vigilente style of justice not meshing well with CONCORD's red tape and legalese. During an incident where your character fired upon a known pirate which could legally enter high security space your character gets fired from the job. With nowhere else to go he turns to the Eve University to learn from the veterens on how to be an effective pod pilot.
Ah, just a story I concocted. The "my parents died and I am an orphan and want to right all the wrongs of the world" is cliche, like what Hippoking said. Actually, anybody that is an orphan could be considered cliche nowadays. ___________________

Hey Ikki,
Well, from what you have there, I would suggest you dig a little deeper in order to flesh out your character. Why is he/she into wars? What is it about wars that gives your character conviction? What happened to your character that made him/her decide that justice and legality are the right path to take in life?
If you do decide to go down the path of "parents killed by enemy X", I would study up on the different enemies. Perhaps there is some sort of history there that you could use to give your character's parents death some weight. I would also look into how or why they died. A person is shaped widely by their parents views and upbringing. So fleshing out your character's parents would also help define your character's personal values.
I will have to agree with Hippo. The immediate ideas are widely repeated in Eve and many other avenues of roleplaying. You might want to consider varying that up a bit.
I would also consider combing through the Eve history to get a taste of what the political and moral climate is. This will help you shape your character and avoid any embarrassing clashes with the game's setting.

How about a nice twist.
He accidently killed his own pearents and the grief is too much to take, so he blames [insert random enemy] and will cause them as much damage as possible in order to placate his subconcious guilt, even though it is really himself that is to blame.
Give him a baby oil addiction as well
'Flawed heroes' are so much more fun to RP than crappy 2d characters.

Try to keep his parents alive?
Make them ship force him to join the military?
Give him an internal conflict, he hates war, but he wants his father's approval...
Or, his father threatened to write him out of his will unless he kills x amount of enemies per month...
Or make him join the military to get away from his parents, girl friend, ex girlfriend...
Make him join the military to impress his girl friend's parents, but his own parents hate it. Or do it the other way around
Just please don't kill his parents, and make him join the military for revenge!

No, my parents paid for me to go to CAS, a rather hairy trip to take from Intaki, esp when Ostingele is often camped at the Stacmon gate. I should remember to go back and thank them, but I don't think they're happy with me... I gave up on my own corporation, and joined forces with the Sniggs. --

My character's folks are happily retired after a life of freelance trading. They were exiled from the Caldari State owing to the sheer number of contacts and agents they built within the Gallente Federation, and they now live on a station in the Oursulaert system, cutting a strange figure - an elderly Civire couple sporting the latest in Gallente fashions and trends. Stitcher (full name: Aiden Eikaru-Tarn) went into capsuleering more as a way of following in his old man's footsteps than anything else.
The Tarns are an extended clan spread across most of the galaxy, with branches occupying the comfortable middle class of all four of the main empires. As a result, the family as a whole tends to be more pragmatic about interestellar politics than might normally be the case.
That's my character background, not that a scrap of it is actually in the bio.
The whole "orphaned/revenge" thing is so insanely old that it amazes me that people think they're being original with it any longer. It's like 15-year-old anime schoolgirls with purple hair, twin desert eagles and a katana...
You should scrap that idea and come up with something a little more original, Ikki Phoenix. ____________________________________________________________

I'm still irked by the fact that you can't have mixed bloodlines, for RP perposes of course
My story goes something like this: My mother was a Intaki soldier on the front lines during the early part of the Gallente-Caldari war, when Caldari Prime was taken over by the Gallente. My father (of the Deteis bloodline) was the CEO of a medium-sized corporation on Caldari Prime. Dissatisfied with how the Caldari State was handling the war (it was a war that was bad for business, at least for my father), he left with my mother after she had completed her tour of duty. I was born later the same year that Caldari Prime was taken over, which was... I think it's now 187 years ago. (It's year 107 now... right? or is it year 108?...)
Coincidently, my father's corporation was absorbed into Poteque Pharmaceuticals; shortly after the merger the old labs were raided by unidentified forces... though rumors have it that it was carried out by members of the Zainou Corporation.

Pretty much anything you can find in the Backstory section of this site is useful for creating a character backstory.

Minmatar slave kid in Amarr Empire, never knew his parents, was raised to be a pit fighter, bust the jaw of his rescuer when they came for him in his late teens, could never fit into the Republic society (or identity) when brought there and jumped at the first chance to be in a pod and make his own rules...
That's Rogue Roy, in a nutshell. Nothing too difficult in the past and plenty of freedom in the present.
