Please!
I move around quite a bit, due to the nature of my job so it's difficult for me to get something shipped somewhere. Make E-ON magazine purchase-able digitally. I would happily pay the same amount for a .pdf of the old issues. Especially #1 since I can't even get it anymore :(

Bad topic. You will make everybody read your post because they think EON has a pdf version.

And that would be awfully great. Even if you had to be online to read it with some personalized authorisation - like only available from your account and in the ingame browser ... --*=*=*--

Erm why? Costs CCP less money, people who own the magazine on paper can still flog them on ebay for a fortune, it can be taken anywhere with you, and allows more people to find out what's going on.

There's a downside to my envisioned version.

I dont see why anyone would buy it if it was available as pdf...it would show up on file sharing networks everywhere.

coz he likes to argue peoples point and put his 2 penny's worth in for the sake of it and on top of that not even give a reason as to why not pfft.
I think its a good idea, though i can see why ccp would not opt for this idea, to easy to copy and send to some of your m8's...

Aye tachy, but perhaps they could do some sort of offline "sign in" to prevent mass copyright infringement that usually goes with a digital item.
For example, you get it in say .pdf, but in order to read it you need to sign in to it with your username/pw, that is updated via eve-online site should you change your pw. If that wouldn't stop someone from copyright infringement, I don't know what would. =D

No, I went a step further. Digital issue available to read through the ingame-browser only when you're logged into the game. And I would not have a problem if it became available 4 months after the printed version. At the moment the stories and guides are only available if you bought the printed version. --*=*=*--

No no I agree something would have to be done to take care of the mass file-sharing that would go on. I know iTunes does it rather well with their music downloads.
I agree with you though, I would love to have the magazine in hand. Right now I have them being sent to a friends house in spain, but I'm working Arizona state atm... will be some time before I can get to them. :(

I would say no to this.
In a world today filled with digital "everything" its a nice thing to have something material. To have something to read on in bed before sleep, or on travels, to lunch and breakfast? yes at any moments, when you want to have a rest from your computer screen but not a rest from EVE!
I got my magazine today. I came home from work at 5pm as usual (i live in Norway), found my E-ON edition in the mailbox, and while I had dinner (pizza and 2 cans of coke..) I read the great article about Chribba and his everlasting love for veldspar and eve-files.com (page 28 to 31), the interview with Noah "hammer" Ward and Kari Gunnarson aka Caiman. and their workdays at CCP.
All in all. E-ON magazine is a superb utility to the world of EVE we all live and breathe in. Interviews with maggot and Jade Constantine? It all set flavour to the game.
So leave the magazine as a magazine.

Here's a slightly better idea then (one that was hinted at when the magazine was launched) - put the back issues online as a PDF one year after their release.

They've already said this wouldn't happen and why, use eve-search.
As for the poster, it's called a subscriber benefit. If you want the magazine and the poster, pony up and pay for the subscription. We paid up front for it, that's why per issue people don't get it. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | Visual Building Guide (Both work in game too!) |

They too said they'll make at least guides guides and other directly game-related articles available for all pilots later - only to row back when EON #1 was about to become unavailable. 'to make it a collector's item' ... And you didn't read the Op's post at all. --*=*=*--

One person will buy it, then they'll host it, and everyone will download it, and CCP will lose money and say screw it.

Wow suprised how many people aren't for it.
For those of you worried about the whole copyright infringement, I addressed that earlier.
For those of you saying that you like your hardcopy because you can hold it in your hot little hands, I never said to make it ONLY digital. I like having a hardcopy too.
But how am I, a late-game joiner able to read the first issue of this great magazine then? I've looked on ebay to no avail, etc.
That's all I'm getting at really. Eventually I'll be able to pick up my copies from my friend in spain, but issue #1? :(

People who buy it seem to be very loyal fans or if have scanned have only shared it with a few people.
Also you have to note that scans are easy to stop being spread on these forums.
PDFs are just annoying. But also hardcoding it with DRM REALLY doesn't help.
Anything that requires a monitor, or speakers to output a medium can be used to via analog break the DRM. (funny how low tech can easily beat high tech eh?) --------------

I cannot remember where, but there's an online gaming magazine somewhere (Zap? or something), they upload PDF's, and a flash-like viewer opens up that allows you to actually flip the pages with your mouse. Something like that would be really easy to encode into a login/account system wherein you purchase a copy, and you can read it online. Something like this doesn't sound bad at all, as many of us players move around a lot all the time. ---

EON won't ever be electronic. Maybe after 6 months or so Zap might want to consider an electronic sale of some sort, but who knows. PersonallyI just order EON if I think it's worth it.

¼_¼ CCP don't make EON, you're asking the wrong people. MMM Publishing make EON, CCP just help with most of the articles and proof-read it for glaring mistakes.
As much as I like CCP, you're giving credit for this great mag to a group of people who do not deserve it.
