Hi all.
I just got into EVE after years in just about every other MMO out there. I always love to play a support or healing type of role or something sneaky and stealthy instead of an all out damage dealer. I'm still learning the basics of the game and trying to find a role for this character and what I want it to be. I'm reading up a ton on what I can/ can't do, but I was wondering if you could give me some advice.
My current attributes are:
Int: 12 Cha: 6 Per: 9 Mem: 10 Wil: 6
And I have already learned up to analytical mind IV plus frigate I, command I gunnery I, mining II and a few other scattered basics.
What do you thing would be a good path? What sorts of ships should I be working towards in the near and distant future?

- "healer" classes are right now pretty much useless in EVE. This role is filled by the logistic ships and only really of any worth in certain highlvl complexes (some dungeon analogue) or certain lvl 4 missions.
- the "sneaky bastard" role is open and effective, though. You might want to take a look at the cov ops and recon ships. You might espcialyl take a look at the amarr recon cruisers, since their primary weapon system are drones which you will be better suited to train with your attributes than guns or missles.

Electronic Warfare is also a possibility.

How good is electronic warfare in the grand scheme of things? And what ships would you recommend for it?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to find out what sounds good vs what works good.

personally I would do whatever I wanted and not care a fig about the atributes. They don't restrict you in any way and the difference they make is so small as to only be noticable at the extremes (23+ or 3)

Edited by: Duradam on 10/07/2006 20:18:31 EW is very usefull. While not a healer role, it is similar to a debuffing role some games have. It can easily swing the tide of battle here. I've only been playing a fewe months, and I've seen a gang in 0.0 outmanned, outgunned, but stomp the enemy due to supperior EW.
While I'm a gallente piolt by race and ship choice, I'd have to say that my sworn enemies, the Caldari, have exellent drone ships. The Blackbird and Scorpion in particular come to mind- I've decided I need to train up a Blackbird EW ship soon. All races can mount EW, and all have bonuses to a specific type, but target jamming seems the most usefull so far, from my in-experianced perspective. Tracking disruptors and sensor dampeners are good as well, but I haven't seen a target painter make or break a fight yet.
You also have pretty good stats for doing EW, in that you will train electronics skills at a decent clip, as well as ships.
As soon as you have enough skills/options to have fun with what you're able to do, focus on the learning skills. Get them all to 4, and if you have the income to buy the advanced learning books, get the advanced learning skills to 3-4. Its a boring time if you haven't gotten a few usefull skills first, but the ealier you can train learning and still have fun, the better.

The t2 ships for electronic warfare are, as said, recon ships. The t1 variations being one tier2 cruiser of each race, the blackbird, aribtrator and celestis.
Generally speaking there are 3 different types of EW: - sensor damperners (boni at gallente ships; reduce the max target range of ships) - tracking disruptors (boni on amarr ships; reduce turret optimal range and tracking speed) - ECM (boni on caldari ships; chance to make a ship drop all it's targets and unable to target anything for 20 secs)
ECM being ATM by far the strongest and universally useable of these systems. But it's likely it will get nerfed in the next couple of months.

None. Technically Bellicose, but bonus to target painters..well...
In exchange for that you can use pretty much every minnie ship for nonspecialized parttime-ewar, though. Try that on any other ship than arbitrator or its t2 recon variations on amarr side.

With good int and mem, you'll do well in mining and production as well.
