Now I know what everyone is thinking, "ZOMG newblet! jo0 MUST use autocann0nz on teh Jag!" but i've had a lot of success with Howwitzers, I use my speed advantage to keep out of range and just bombard the enemy with my large bore weapons. is this a stupid thing to do? I realise that a ship which can go faster than me will paddle my ass but it's been good so far. So what i'm asking is, could the people in the know tell me the pros/cons for fitting a Jaguar with howwies or autocannons. Thanks.

it is technically an artillery ship due to it's optimal range bonus, it's just that it's good enough to use autos on it (much like the muninn).

oh my word what is wrong with me today? I was sure I always read people telling everyone to use autocannons... but okies, thanks for the help ^^

no you're right - the majority of people say to use autocannons (especially with the extra damage bonus the jag got). It's just that it can also be very effectively used with artillery due to the optimal bonus.

I'd say if you want artys use a wolf. The 4th gun makes all the difference.

Well to a degree. Think of it on this level.
On the wolf if you go with 4 art. turrets your not going to get much for a tank. Its going to be all damage. Mabye a small rep. II or dmg control.
Now lets look at the art. on the Jaguar. You can still throw that med. tech II shield extender and be well over 1700 shield. Not to mention you are based on shields here knowing that the Jag and wolf have great natural shield resistences. Armor you have to try and compensate for the ugly low explosive and kinetic resistences which will not be easy because of the grid usage on the 4 arties.
Compare the two. Even with 1 more art. turret on the wolf the Jaguar will win big time simply because of the resistences on shield vs. armor.

As above, have had some great fun with this, nobody really expects heavy hits from frigates at 60km :D
