hi, i just want to ask a simple question. yesterday i lost a raven on Worlds Collide level 4 mission, the angel/sansha version, on the second angel stage.
i warped in, got some cruisers and BS firing at me, and also some scrambling frigs. when i took out the drones to kill the frigs, i got aggroed by the whole room, so i died very quickly (less than a minute, with very high exp/kin resistances), before i could kill the 4 frigs that were scrambling me.
it is ok, i really think it is silly that all the rats dont attack at first sight, since they are not that far away and i am sure they could use TS or Ventrilo to ask for help, but anyway, that is how the game works, you are supposed to be attacked only by some rats, not all of them.
so my question is, is this whole room aggro a bug? can i petition it?

Drones do this and it is pretty annoying. Petition will most likely NOT get your ship back, unfortunatly...

Its lag. Expect every NPC rat to target you and shoot at you. It's what they do. Also, in some missions NPCs are in clusters that only attack one at a time. Make sure that your drones aren't simply auto targeting (by telling them to switch targets when the one they're on only has enough hp for a couple missiles to finish up). Auto-targeting will sometimes cause even more aggro to come your way. --- --- --- ---

Pop into the Missions Forum and you'll see a number of threads on this topic.
There's a lot of discussion, but the bottom line is that most people experience the same as you. It only happens on certain missions. It doesn't always just affect drones - sometimes, a buddy warping into the deadspace after you will get all the aggro in the same way.
Missions are designed to have different levels of aggro, but I haven't seen any comment from the Devs about insta aggro on drones from the whole room.

Last I tried that, it was not drones that caused that whole room to aggro, but shooting at the sentries that you start next to. But since shooting sentries does that in other missions too, I was prepared and warped out immediately to come back and kill everything while tanking sentries :D --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! I'm glad missions throw the unexpected at people.
I'd hate for them to be seen as simply cut and paste clockwork devices that people follow a step by step method to generate unlimited ISK.
Missions such as those really should be generated even more randomly.

Unless the Angel one is different, the whole level does not aggro you on entry.

True. To be precise: Drones often fly through the agression radius of rats.
A little hint: Keep the window showing the drone shield/ armor/hull open. As soon as drones start taking unexpected damage you know they have aggroed something. Thats the time when you got to make the quick decision if your ship can tank all, or if you should get out ASAP

that was not my case. my drones didnt get any harm at all. in fact they were still there when i came back to pick my can. but i did get aggro from all the rats, which i still would like to know if is an intended feature or a bug.

It is the drones. It also happens with a buddy. As soon as a buddy aggresses anything, your toasted.
If you dump your drones out on the first level, even though the Guristas are 110km away, the guristas will aggro you in seconds. Sometimes the 2nd level is okay, sometimes not.
Its simply a matter of them attacking any entity.
I think CCP probably forgot to set a flag or something which turns off automatic aggro on drones and people other then the mission runner.
Technically you should get your ship back since you should be able to use your drones in the way they are intended to be used.
But unless CCP thinks your a griefing pirate hero who ganks newbs at chokepoints they probably wont consider you eligible.

Don't know, it takes months for petitions like these to get answered.

This is often the case wiht Lvl4 missions. So I refrain from using drones untill I know I can tank the rats that are left.
I have found that Battleship Size Blasters actually have no problem at all killing even the smallest and fastest ships (Guardian Veterans in my case)
Just add TRANSVERSAL VELOCETY to your overview. Then you web the frig and when you have a transversal uner 100m/s (I suually wait till its around 50m/s or lower) you fire all your blasters. Most of the time they die in one volley.
After you have finnished the fast webber/scrambler frigs you can go about killing the cruisers and Battleships one group at a time. And you never need to launch the drones at all. Although it might speed things up ;]
Happy Blasting!

Ugh u make me sick.
The WHOLE spawn should aggro u tbfh, all this bs about seeing your mates die and not doing jack didly is stupid imho. Do what the complex specialists do and use ur ship at range like its supposed to.

Generally when you enter the second or third rooms you do not get mass agro from all the NPCs -- you get agro from one group at a time, based on which NPC you shoot at first. I only use drones once I've dispatched all but the last group of NPCs to ensure I don't accidentally agro other groups.
I've only had mass agro once in the second room -- when this happened I warped out quickly and flew back and received agro from only a single group of NPCs.
So... mass agro is not, in my experience, normal behaviour in this mission, however I'm not sure how drones affect this. As to whether you can petition this or not, well, try it and see...
Cheers, Arrs.

Edited by: Jim McGregor on 11/07/2006 14:54:28 I can confirm that drones indeed cause aggro from the second group in Worlds Collide lvl 4 (in the first stage). First group aggros, and they send 4 frigs towards you. If you take out the drones to kill them, second group will attack you.
Just warped out because of this. Its impossible to kill the frigs with torpedoes, so i guess you have to sit there and tank them during the entire first stage because of this bug. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

yep, that is what i did on the first stage, and it wasnt easy at all, since angels do exp/kin and sanshas em/term, but since they start at 100 km, i could kill most angel cruisers and BCs before they arrived at me, then i finished the angel commanders, and then i changed missile type to kill sansha's rats.
but on the angel second stage i warped in the middle of all the rats, so when they all aggroed me, they started doing big damage inmediatly, so even with resistances of 87 exp/79 kin i was blown out on less than a minute.

I saw it in the last Angel stage the 2 fisrt pocket aggroed me then when I attacked the 4 or 5 frigs I would pull the whole stage and they random aggro.
We actualy tough it was a nice fix to the mission, akes it harder but more entertaining.

I tried this too... despite having 80/80 resists and a cap injector, I didnt manage to even kill one of the cruisers before i had to warp out. Had 4 battleships and 4 cruisers firing on me. Even frapsed it to remember it...
A tad difficult for normal ravens. Guess you need a tech 2 ship or faction boosters.

Level 4 missions are supposed to be soloable. If the entire dungeon aggros you quickly, you'll need a logistic ship tagging along for many missions. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Drones often cause aggro shifts in Lvl 4's, having 'soloed' many LvL 4's with my 2 accounts (Gundog does well in a 7x150 Rail Megathron against fast movers), and done many with my friends for a bit of team fun, i've seen many wierd things happen when drones are used in missions...
Ive seen aggro randomly reset with multiple people or drones being used, and we lost a friend along in a frigate for a laugh but as others have stated if LvL 4's were too easy there'd be no fun in them

Drones causing entire level to aggro is apparently a known bug which they just don't fix. I've gotten ships lost to this back, so they know about it, and agree it's not intended.

yep, i did that with 50% shields, since it went down so fast, i was already aligned to the station, and at full speed (well, at full webbed speed, but it doesnt really matter) but a black box kept telling me i was being warp scrambled... i got time to finish one of the 4 little funny frigs that were orbiting me before becoming a pod

I've had it happen to me on Infiltrated outpost and the last level of GE. Some in my corp have a theory that when you warp in THROUGH an enemy group (typically with encounter missions) and get too close they can agro you.
But most of the time it's out-of-control drones, shooting sentries or the 'top boss' in the level, or user error. :P Rimhawk V8 Interceptors |
