Has the same slots as a rifter but its bonuses go directly to turrets which make it pretty gimped considering you only get 2 slots to fit turrets in.
Highs: Guns/rockets Mids: ab/scram/web Lows:Repper/Aux/400mm plate
Same as the rifter, infact most frigates do well with 400mm plate.

Low: 400MM nano plate Macro Auxiliary Power Core Small armor rep
Med: AB 7.5k Scram Web
High: 2x Rocket Launchers 2x Best blasters you have room left for
Obviously named and T2 are better if you can afford/use them.
As for a little advice, don't go after too much thats bigger than you unless its obvious theyre young or unexpierenced.
Just scan the belts, warp in and get in range to scram and web as fast as you can. And orbit them as close as you can to make yourself harder to hit. And hope you dont run into smartbombs or nos.

You gotta remember to add the DPS of the drone, at which point it's not so gimped anymore.

So i take it i should use the drone? I didnt really think that one drone would contribute much.

Now that I'd like to see
ATTENTION METROPOLIS REGION: Hello. This your friendly pirate speaking. You are all being randsomed. Send me 1/3rd the cost of your ships. Thanks, and have a nice day.

OP: Get an incursus. Its better for pirating when you don't know what you are doing. Put 3 electron blasters, an MWD, a webber and a warp scrambler, a small amour rep and a damage control on it. Don't forget to pack a drone, either.
Its a fun ship to fly. :D
If you insist on using a tristan, you'll probably want a manky NOS setup, as is the fashion these days. -----------------------

Killed 6 people with the tristan and its seems like a nice little ship. Only died once to a fellow pirate in a punisher with nos.

As a Gallante, drones are a major amount of your damage. You have to train for drones to be effective. Minny is prolly the most skill intensive, followed by gallante and amarr, then caldari as the easiest ------------------------ Malum Vir Pirate Corporation Recruitment I'm too sexy for my Cyclone... |

QFT. Consider the Vexor. This affordable dish is only around 4 mil, seasoned with a mix of medium nos/blasters, stuffed drone bay with a nice mix of therm/kin/explosive drones, on starchy base of 800 crystal plate.
The Tristan is fun too, however. The rocket/blaster mix is good, though try to fit 2 light electrons, 1 rocket and a nos just to be safe.
I wish I could drive one to work, tbh.

As an Old had to doing PVP in a Tristan. (My Favorite ship before I got my Taranis) I had mine loaded out like this
High (x4) 2x Named Light Neutron Blasters (Antimatter) 2x Named Rocket Launchers Med (x3) Named MWD (If you have the skills) Named Warp Scrambler (20k or 7.5, its a roll of the dice if your target has WCS or not) Named Webbfier
Low (X3) Now here is where Some people disagree with me, I say don't put a tank on a frig like this, cause you don't have survivablity anyway. but most of this stuff is cheap to replace.
Nanofiber Internal Structure X1 Named Overdrive Injector X2
This will be a pretty good PVP tristan, complete with tackling ability. just remember, your goal is to not get hit (this is a poor mans inty)
Enjoy!

How about 2 nanofibers and a damage mod? I think the ODs gimp your agility too much. You're trying to orbit closely, not set a straight-line speed record. Do you really hit the top speed the ODs give your ship? I am sure you cannot orbit that fast and hit with T1 turrets and T1 rockets. You'd have to be at 30km or more.

I was ratting in my "tristian" (nemises) the other day when 3 rifters jumped in on me, all flashing a nice red colour when they targetted me and began firing, next results where quite satisfying as i put a dampener on each pilot and moved to 30km from each pilot. I fired my nice little cruise missiles at them popping the first pilot when the other two pilots continued chasing me. Next volley they drop into structure and again pop goes the weasel.
In local I received a slatting being called a hacker and exploiter until i pionted out they should check before they attack as i was in a stealth bomber :)Local came alive with people "LOL" at the silly pilots.
Lesson of the day is check out who you attack before you attack them :D

Its a Toss up
I never had any problem orbiting at 1500m with that setup...
and for the speedboost, its all situational, sometimes it helps. As with the Damage mod. Anything with a good tank your not gonna break. Anything without a tank you are gonna chew through pretty fast with the neutrons and AM...
Absoutly, 2 nanos and a Damage mod would work. I just don't like taking my stucture down that far when you don't have any tank already....
But its a good option
