I am a returning player to EVE. I used to be a pirate but I can see a lot has changed since 2004. When I felt like playing eve again a while ago I made this character and I have learning skills going. I would like to continue pirating on this new character and was wondering what race would be best. Through some observation I have noticed the Minmatar ships are good with speed and firepower, and seem to be on top right now. My true heart lies with Amarrian ships however, and I was wondering if they would be a good choice. I am not really interested in the Caldari and Gallente races so my choice is between Minmatar and Amarr.
I could use a hybrid combination of Minmatar weapons and Amarrian ships. I am open to suggestions and appreciate any advice.
EDIT: And when will this damn exclamation point for my name go away?

I think Minmatar would be a better choice. The Rupture is very good for piracy and Amarrian ships seem to lack mid-slots which are crucial.

Gallente ftw  - But as that's not your thing go for Minmatar - I hear they are great for newer pirates

In addition to whats been said, just make sure if you use a different race's guns on another race's ship, you aren't screwing yourself over by not using your ships bonuses.
Oh, and the ! will go away eventually. I'm about 4 and a half months old and I still don't have a pic.

Meh! all Races have good ships. There is really no better race. I like Gallente ships so I play with those. Playing with the ones you like > supposedly better race.
