Is the 5% bonus per skill level applied to the base mining yield? Or is my Mining Skill bonus figured in first?
Trying to calculated payback before I take the leap.

Calculating mining speed is very tricky as it changes at each ore type. The data to take into account are : - Mining skill lvl - Mining "speed" of the ore - Kind and number of miner (Miner I, Miner II, ...) - Kind and Number of drone - Mining drone skill lvl
I tried to do some calculation but lost my head in it. Someone has already done anything ?
The main goal would be to calculate the amount of ISK earned per seconds given a value for each of the parameters I listed above and the current value of ore type in the market....

It's actually not so hard.
* Base mining yield. For a miner II it is 60 I think.
* Multiply this with your mining skill and astrogeology skill. Assuming lvl 4 in both equals:
60*1,4 = 84
* this is the volume in cubic meters mined per cycle. One unit of Omber for example is 0,6 cubic meters. So in one cycle, you mine with one Miner II 84/0,6 = 140 units of Omber. Multiply this with the number on lasers.
Works the same way with drones and mining drone yield.

Thanks for the replies. I already have a nice spread sheet set-up which calculates my income per mining cycle. What I'm not sure about is the actual bonus astrogeology will give me.
ie. Miner I yields 40 cubic meters per cycle with Mining Level 4 the yield goes to 48 cubic meters per cycle.
Does Astrogeology modify the 40 or the 48?

Sorry Snaazex I see you did answer my question. Astrogeology modifies the base amount.
many thanks

Edited by: Erty on 02/10/2003 15:02:34 No, it doesn't. It's applied on top of the mining skill.

the effects stack. I have mining 5, astrogeology 4. when I use a miner 1, get 60 units a cycle. ((40 * 1.25)* 1.20))

The important thing I did not know was that the amount indicated in mining lasers and mining drones was in cubic meters. I thought it was an arbitrary value modified by each ore type. Knowing this will make the calculations easier.
Thanks for all the replies ;)

Wrong there.
With mining 4 astro 4, it would be 60*1.2*1.2 (i.e. 60*1.44, not 1.4)
For a total of 86.4 m3
This number is then rounded down to the nearest integer. (86 in this case).
Divide the new number by the ore size, and round down to the nearest integer again. For example, 86.4/16 = 5.4 units of bistot per minute. This is rounded down to 5. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Think it was Tomb who recently said bonuses from skills always stack multiplicatively, so yeah, it's Base * bonus from mining * bonus from astrogeology.

Ok after trying to do this for my Corp, I finally got the spread sheet working. I have uploaded it to geocities, so no guarantee that you will be able to download it.
Anyway here's the link...

And if that doesn't work try cut and pasting this one...

The only problem with that calculator is that it's not exactly castor compatible.. close though.
