I suggest releasing necromancy skill (lvl 3), which allows to operate with necromancer modules (high slot items). With these modules you will be able to reanimate corpses and they will follow you to battle like drones (you can also buy ships for them). Or you can use them in mining operation (for hauling or tanking).
And if you have trained necromancy to 5, you will able to use soulcatcher module (medium slot item). This module allows you to reanimate yourself, if someone pods you. (with the ship). Thats cool for revenge.
Each skill level allows you to use one summoned player more.

I could see how this works - lets face it, a bunch of nanomachines fired into the biomass could make it into something "useful" - a drone that does "flesh" damage and has a wet smacking sound when it hits your ship. No shield/armour resists against it...

The forum necromancy skill is bad enough, we don't need an in-game version.

The game is "hardcore mode." for a reason. WoW and such are "softcore mode."
If you want to have a softcore option, how about a REAL hardcore option also?
You get podded, you don't come back. Neither work, or you'll get into the mass-army things. Nobody wants to see a carrier/droneboat going around with a mass of things following it, its best to stick with drones and players, not add on more drones than there is. If this skill was introduced, what tree would it be anyway? Social? If it counted towards your drone total and it was more worthwhile - how often do you pod people and not have full drones already? - it may be considerable.
Sorry, but I disagree. This is sci-fi, not fantasy. You don't revive people's souls (personalities) in sci-fi things. You turn them into biomass for the clones and Jove kiddies.

Well, Sansha's are kind of zombies, but this isn't because of a kind of necromancy but from scientific experimentations
Anyway, this idea isn't completely stupid, but remove the necromancy stuff and anything about undeads and replace it by NPC officers that could be under your command or something like that, you would have to pay them a wage and if you're not nice enough with them, they could desert keeping the ship you gave them, or something like that
They could also gain experience and be killed of course, you would then need to replace them with new, unexperimented officers -----

Well I think it would be a splendid idea! At higher levels of Necromancy you could create a Flesh Golem out of multiple corpses. You could have a Corpse Explosion Module (Diablo II) in one of your HiSlots. I think a BoneWall Generator is long over due, I imagine it would be alot more use against Missles than Defenders are at the moment.
I can see it now, Necromancy is going to be the next big thing.

I agree, but only if I can fit my Priest Module +4 also and my Great Sword Module of Zombie Slaying +2 so I can root out the Necromancer's tower deadspace complexes with ease. Yea. And while you're on it, introduce elves as a race too! Let's be original.

If some one can ask for a necro skill, then how about a charm skill?
Skill name: Charm Primary Attribute: Charisma Secondary Skill: Willpower Attribute: 10% reduction in damage from avatars of the opposite sex Training multiplier: 5x (unless Brutor...you get it straight off the bat)
