A macro miner is someone who uses a macro, a script, to make his character mine and move the ore/ice he mines to a container, the script is also run on another account with a hauler to take the ore/ice back to station.
He uses this to mine ore/ice 23/7 without actually having to do anything, not even be at his computer.
And in case you're still wondering, yes, it's against the game rules.
Hope this clears it up. |

You need to be careful not to confuse "Macro miners" with "farmers".
Farmers don't use a script, but actually have a live person sitting at the PC mining 23/7.
Farmers are harder to catch, as there is someone there actually able to respond to GM messages.
Both result in depleted asteroid belts, but through different means.

Farmers are also difficult to catch; What if they are just mining for a legitimate player? On a seperate account?
Only Macro mining is against the EULA.
Unless of course the Farmers are selling the isk on Ebay.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying farming is against the EULA. Just that it's confused with macro'ing quite often.
Edit: I can see how my "harder to catch" comment caused the confusion. Apologies.

Farming technically is against the EULA as it requires more than one person having access to the same account.
