Quote: The EVE renowned combat corporation "RUS" recently declared that it is being restructured after a swathe of its membership have retired from active duty. Retiring members cited on-going issue with ship technology, navigational systems errors and abrupt combat malfunctions as reasons for retirement from active duty.
RUS corp has therefore announced that its remaining combat force will continue although its capabilities are now seriously hindered by its lower membership numbers. Remaing Corporate members of note include Ronin, Draken, Kashej, Leshiy, Amorex, Lorgus, Jvol, Mamont, Oks and Gurenus - which as those in the know will realise, still presents a very potent and experienced fighting force.
Pilot Technolisa is now the effective CEO of RUS.
M0O, M3G4, and now RUSS.... who is next?
What is in store for eve. A complete new generation of corps or is this game simply dieing?

people quit, new people sign up. server population has remained fairly constant through the last several months.
game is not dying you will just see new corporations rise to prominence or new members take the old members' spots.
kthx

Edited by: dalman on 02/10/2003 19:07:57 Yes... And RUS announced this in the corp forum here...
*edit* And I think that is the list of members quitting, not staying. Since Ronin was CEO. And Leshiy said in local that he had like 5 days left of his subscription last time I saw him in local(2 days ago in Curse).

Many original people have left the game but there is still a greater number of people who are staying and will stay for a long time. Just look at the beta player thread by Archon Stormrage ::looks for non-existant search function::. There are a lot of people still here but I can say that for myself I will be here for a while but I hope that player owned stuctures are implimented soon. It would make a whole new dynamic to this game that will make it more enjoyable for all...

Quote: Eve is leaving only few but the most active members, here are their names: Ronin, Draken, Kashej, Leshiy, Amorex, Lorgus, Jvol, Mamont, Oks and me. Sorry if I forgot someone. New CEO will be Technolisa. So, goodby everyone, hope to see you again but in other world.
I "think" that means that list of people are staying... could go either way though when ya read it over...

Yes... I was a little confused when I read their post (difficult for russians to learn perfect english). But since Ronin has been CEO, I find it strange that Technolisa is appointed CEO if Ronin is staying. So since Leshiy said he was leaving I guess that's the list of "famous" people leaving. Guess we'll have to wait and see

I made all mention possible that the original news article came from EVE Guardian and linked to it. EG is by far the best un-official news site out there and I encourage everyone to add it to their daily must-read site. Keep up the good work guys.

All on-line games have "churn". People leave, and new people come in to take their place. There will always be a RUS or mOo like corp out there. In a few months the universe may look exactly the same as now, just other names.

No reference to eve-i itself there Ralek, just the title of the thread here.

Ummmm, they've done it all and seen it all, Alexia.
Maybe the rest of us are just blessed with patience.

If they've done it all and seen it all, why not just merely retire instead of collapsing in on themselves?
I just find laughable that, despite all the big talk, they end their "careers" in such a way. oO

Very much so. well known corps can say "been there, done that" to everything. And I feel that too. But this game can be so good, and I've built up my character very good too. I still believe that this game will be great, and I don't want to start from scratch if that happens. So I'm staying.

Retired? I heard many of them were banned for using the duplicate item exploit. Which is it?

I wondered about the timing of this too.

Just a note on that, we are starting to see a lot of beta players from that period get bored of EVE and either trying very different career's or even a sabatical (break) from the game for a while.
I formed the corp I'm currently in partly due to needing a new challenge in the game , i.e. being a CEO my self. Not fun all the time but certainly has changed the way I play and therefore brought a different aspect of the game. Many of my members are feeling the EVE boredom nagging sometimes and so we have to do things different now an then.
Without all the promised content soonish there won't be too many players left from this 'era' at all although I doubt many people would actually care .

Good riddance.
All the angels and the puny men of god looked away... Frightened to death by the evil that was born on that day!
