Edited by: Duke Droklar on 02/10/2003 21:08:01 It began as any other Omega Corp raid with stern determined faces and sharp salutes as we boarded our vessels and began a patrol. We set off with a small fleet of 2 OC Battleships, the [OC] Crucifier and the [OC] Crusader, 3 Heavy Cavalry cruisers and 2 Light Cavalry frigates. The warzone of Curse seemed relatively calm so this seemed adequate for the task. Little did we know what we would face that night.
Several systems had been designated and we began our sweeps searching for enemy mining ops and other targets of opportunity. Several citizens were encountered, identified and classified as non combatants... the patrol went on.
The patrol encountered several enemies in one system. A scout was dispatched to search the system while the fleet blockaded gates and stations awaiting contact. The scout shouted over the comm "they're at belt 5... BELT......." his comm crakled and went earily quiet. Several ships warped to the belt to see the enemy warping away from the floating wreckage. With uncanny accuracy they came out of warp directly on the station and docked to safety, a 3rd was spotted a while later as he docked. One of the enemy pilots came out of the station several times only to be met with wilting fire until he redocked. This continued a few times while we admired his bravado. We hailed him and saluted his courage but games of cat and mouse was not on our agenda.
Deep space scans revealed a sizable force approaching our current location. The order was given to advance and await them in Y-DW5K. We took combat positions and waited. We would not deploy a temporal disturbance field which is so common of our enemy... no, we would face these forces with honor. The enemy forces consisting of Sinc, Black Omega, Fatal Shadows and VOTF streamed into the system 8 in total. Our location was probed several times by enemy battleships. We knew it would not be long.
An enemy scorpion jumped into our position acting as a beacon for the rest of the CA fleet. Massive fireppwer was quickly brought to bear and his shields were ripped just as the enemy fleet began to arrive. Seven more CA battleships had arrived and stormed into combat. We knew we were severely outgunned but retreat was not sounded... we fought on. The dark sky was lit by the exchange of fire and the sky filled with missiles. The fate of the scrambled CA Scorpion was sealed as he was vaporized under the concentrated firepower of large turrets and missiles. He was not alone in death as several OC Hvy Cavalry cruisers and the remaining Light Cav frigate went up in balls of flame and smoke.
Another enemy battleship was focused upon by the remaining OC vessels and was nearly gone when our last support vessel was sent spinning out of control and was destroyed. Damage reports began flooding the bridges of the OC battleships. Voice Comm ws suddenly lost between the Crucifier and the Crusader due to some inexplicable twist of fate. The second CA battleship vanished under the expanding shockwaves of exploding torpedos. There was no time to rejoice as the situation had become extremely ominous.
Cut off from the [OC]Crucifier, I ordered the Crusaders bridge crew to begin evasive manuevers and prepare for warp. Without comm we could only hope that the Crucifier had disengaged and escaped the massive firepower of the six remaining CA battleships. With shields almost gone MWD was engaged with a wave of missiles in hot pursuit. Within the blink of an eye the shields had failed and armor and hull explosions ripped through the retreating capital ship. Warp was initiated and the [OC]Crusader esacaped into the void with barely 40% armor and hull.
In the depths of space the technicians had finally restored the OC comm channel. Cheers ripped through the Crusader as the voice of Sir Hume, Captain of the [OC] Crucifier reported crippling damage... but alive.
The enemy was congradulated on a well fought battle but was met with anger. Their wild claims of "no losses" were outrageous at first but then laughter swept throught our ranks. We know what we witnessed and that is what matters. When will they learn that denial of the facts do not CHANGE the facts.
An assesment of the battle reported OC losses at 12 million, CA losses at 150-200mill, a tactical victory against overwhelming odds.... priceless.

the fight sounds honourable and fair, which is a nice change to the fighting in Curse. of course, i would like to hear from the CA side, as i'm sure the casualty figures will be conflicting as usual, and the actual course of events will be known by only those participating in the fight.

Y-D shows 6 pilots destroyed. That is the exact number of vessels destroyed on both sides. I'm certain the blip will dissapear at the same time (24hrs) further confirming the accuracy of our report.

Edited by: The Reclaimer on 03/10/2003 04:45:45 Unfortunatly the Scorpion piloted by VOTF was not destroyed. He waped out. Also aty the beginning of the battle a blackbird ran like a chicken and foolishly met his death at a gate. We lost nothing but torpeods. Sorry to dampen you story.
Do you guys pay 150-200 million for Scorpions? I think I'll bring some down there and sell them.

Very nice read and very good fight. Thanks for the fun. Only 1 thing wrong with the post though
"The second CA battleship vanished under the expanding shockwaves of exploding torpedos. There was no time to rejoice as the situation had become extremely ominous."
No CA ships were lost in the engagement, you might of seen Xirtam warp away to save his scorp though. I was the one leading the fleet and nobody on teamspeak said they lost their ships. Better luck next time and damn were you guys brave! Damn nice fight /clap

It was a good battle, I agree. My friends, I'm afraid, are correct, however. We did not lose any ships in the engagement, though some were injured. Bravely faught, I hope to meet you on the field of battle again!

It was well fought and very exciting. I salute the bravery of ZirtamVOTF who was the scorp commander that came in first. While we (and the map) may disagree with your account of the results I will leave it at that and look forward to our next encounter.
Reclaimer: The two ships we believe destroyed was a scorp and a tempest. With gear that would easily be 150-200 million not counting insurance of course.

The Monks shall burn incense in the temple tonight to offer thanksgiving for your great victory.
Of course the enemy disputes any ships lost. But then again when have pirates ever been known to tell the truth.
The map showing six ship kills tells all.

And that shows what? You should be a lawyer.
