I'd say: yea, if properly fitted.

Think someone said 14 TII fitted geddons could, but the freighter would have to be carrying something worth a good few hundred mil and even then if concord jams most of the BS you would prob die before the freighter.

hmm i was under the impression that it would take more than that to destroy a 130k + hp ship before concord destroyed them ================ Misadventure Forum ALT and entrepreneur

If you went with cheap setups to make them easy to replace (the minimum replacement cost is about 16-20 million if you use geddons with dual heavy pulse lasers and plates/damage mods), I'm not sure. You may need more, as CONCORD kills you surprisingly fast. 15 would do it, probably.

I think concord only target jams in 1.0 systems, so in the rest you would have a few more seconds.

I don't believe it could happen.
tempest DPS: 250.133
6x 1400mm I 4x gyrostab
GOOD skills (can use t2 1400mm)
say each bs lasts for 5 seconds total of 50 seconds decreasing the 2501.33 dps by 250.133 every 5 seconds. With 2501.33 dps over 50 seconds you get 125066.5 damage, but this is not accounting for ships destroyed and I'm not sure how concord aggro rules work on multiple attackers, you probbly wouldn't have close to 50 seconds (and he'd jump by then anyway unless you had a scrambler).

So, you're counting tempests with 1400mm's, probably the LOWEST damage outputting BS for combat? Try 10 blasterthrons, 1200 DPS each w/ void. ---------------------------

Don't forget that you generally only ever see a freighter around were sentry guns are in place.
High sec is what six sentry guns? That's enough to kill a battleship pretty fast even with Concord coming in.

Untanked I last for 2 volleys using seige 1 & 5 BCS in a Raven in .9 5 seconds is way too short.

Sentrys only help the navy, IIRC. So it will just be concord. ---------------------------

If you're going to throw away over 500mil isk, and alot of manhours, you'd better hope you dont destroy whatever you're trying to get.

Insurance 20m ISK per ship if you use pulse-geddons. Thats 200m for all the ships. If the freighter has a cargohold full of even trit, its enough ---------------------------

No the sentries will help Concord.
However, they can only fire on one ship at a time. The main issue will be concord and lag.
Geddons are the best ship, as they're Tier 1, their guns are cheap (T1 dual heavy pulse are like 50k, T2 are very cheap for large guns also), and they do the most raw DPS (important against structure).

10 t2 fitted ravens would be most efficient (rage are the best really), and might stand a chance in 0.5, maybe even up to 0.9. Would probably need at least 20 in 1.0.
Whatever you plan to use, try it on SiSi first

however atm there is no point until freighters drop loot it would be a total waste of time. and then once they do start dropping loot you need to be able to haul off all the booty before the vultures(ie anyone flying past the gate) pick off anything of value.
would still be a sight to see, and id probally be one of those vultures if it spit out some ravens when it went boom.

The last sentence in your post explained the purpose of this thread. Humans have the ability to analyze events and even plan for the future. Duh?

Humans also have an incredable ability to misunderstand. Or simply be foolish.
Humans, can also stop asking questions about something that no one has ever tried (since there would be no purpose) and either A) do the math. or B) try it.
Also, humans that use "duh" are generally anoying and pathetic.
