After the rollout last year of the new website, a great many old news resources became either immensely difficult to find (due to old links being broken and no categorization or search function in the new list) or unavailable at all. It was later discovered, however, that changing the url on old links to 'communityclassic.eveonline.com' instead of 'community.eveonline.com' allowed for the access of resources from an archive version of the old website. This was immensely helpful.
Checking some of those links now shows that they've once again been broken, with communityclassic now redirecting to the new webpage.
Has the archived version of the old website been taken down, or just the redirect broken? Either case is bad as, frankly, the new website has been and remains awful for news due to the lack of categories, search functions, and the complete absence of most older fluff pieces (the ANN/Scope/etc news articles for each race). |

The entire list of links on PIE's wiki page, for example, which I updated a few months ago with communityclassic urls after the original links were all broken from the launch of the new website. |

Yes, but if I wanted to locate the news articles on the current community webpage I would go looking for them myself. While some of them can be found (with difficulty, due to the lack of a search function), many more are not available through the current community webpage at all and could only be found on the communityclassic page (for example, the Ardishapur education improvements and Kor-Azor scandal posted by ANN early last year, just before the new website launched).
So, again, I'm not asking for replacement links. I'm asking, "What happened to the communityclassic archived website?" |

This really needs to be fixed, or a decent search function added to the new site. Having 10 years of documented history just disappear really kind of blows. |

Those would be from the 2003 listing on the website:
http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/world-news/archive/2003/
As the vigil news was from the global category, rather than the racial news, it's locatable on the website. All the global news entries are recoverable, just entail sorting through multiple pages to find them. The big loss is the old racial news articles. |
