There is lots of hidden game content in EVE.
EVE has music and ability to control it was taken away when Jukebox was removed. EVE music is in Soundcloud but interface to access EVE music is one big mess. There isn't even connection between EVE client or EVE forums and music in soundcloud service. This gave me idea of creating link library to EVE music. I put it in alphabetical order. Now we can start enjoying EVE music again.
1. All Which Was Lost Has Now been Regained 2. Amongst Allies 3. Apocrypha - 2009 - Expansion Theme 4. At the End of Your Journey 5. Below the Asteroids 6. Bonanza Excavation 7. Borderlines 8. ...But Still We Go On 9. Close To A Holy Place 10. Costs of Conflict 11. Crius (2014) Release Theme 12. Crucible - 2011 - Expansion Theme 13. Defenders Of The Orphic World 14. Do You Know Where You Are 15. Doomed Forever 16. Dominion - 2009 - Expansion Theme 17. EVE of Battle 18. Everyday Zone 19. Exodus - 2004 - Expansion Theme 20. Forsaken Ruins 21. Gallentean Refuge 22. On a serious note
EVE had a great music. 87 Great tracks. now you just listen maybe 10 tracks (depending in which region and sec. status level you live) and they are infinitely looping.
Also it is not just my observation, but some of the greatest tracks were removed completely
Ok i know that maintaining jukebox was unnecessary spending of dev time and resources.
BUT the main problem is that they didn't ad any ability to control the music to compensate jukebox removal .
Simple "skip this track" button and "play all music / turn off dynamic music" button would help i dont think that such simple controls would spend dev time. CODE. in a nutshell |

Thanks for doing this. I don't think I've heard Below The Asteroids, I Saw Your Ship or Surplus Of Rare Artifacts since I started playing again. I swear they removed some of the music, and some of its most iconic music at that. Every time I go into lowsec all I hear is the same ominous ambient music over and over again. |

I had no idea EVE had sound until someone told me. However, I had to read their lips. Actually, I've downloaded all the songs from the cloud site and have a nifty extenda-play I can listen to while I'm not playing, or when I am. I drive it through a 750 watt Fender Mixer Amp and two Yamaha studio cabinets on stands. The neighbors are saying I need an environmental impact statement, as I'm remotely grooming their lawns. But, I don't care. I'm playing it till the cops bust down the door. Anyone with any sense has already left town. |

For anyone else that may have previously pulled a copy of the mp3 files while they still were stored locally on the PC, below is a list of differences (new tracks) that weren't in the previous 67 tracks available through the old jukebox.
6. Bonanza Excavation 22. Gas Giant 33. Is Anybody Out There 53. Pirates Den 70. Stellar Shadows 72. The Day After The Storm 83. Unidentified Phenomenon
Minus of course all the menu screen theme tracks, which I'm totally stoked to have found here because otherwise I was having to find them on Youtube.
I still think Nouvelle Rouvenor Hero is one of my favorites, but I'll give these new ones a listen and see how they do. Thanks again Mikhem, this is work well done and very appreciated. |

I think the best EVE music song is Apocrypha expansion theme. For me it tells a story:
Captain: Ensign X how long have we been searching signs of life in deep space? Ensign X: Two weeks now captain. Captain: And nothing so far. Ensign X: I'm picking up signal from far away in deep space. Captain: I thought no ship could reach place so far away in deep space. Are you sure you are reading instruments right ensign? Ensign X: Yes I'm sure. Captain: Well that signal is coming from so far deep space that we cannot go there. It would take 1000000 years with our sublight engines to reach that location and there is no way to lock warp drives there. Ensign X: There is definitely something out there. Signal coming from deep, very deep. Mikhem

The answers to your questions are out there, but I might as well make the effort to spread the information to yet another jukebox thread.
CCP didn't want to leave the jukebox in the game for several reasons, some were stated directly, some might have been read between the lines by me.
They didn't want to maintain the code - might be because it was something many players didn't use, I don't recall - but many players do play eve without sound. They did not want to leave any code in the game that they were not going to maintain. When they removed the code, they took the opportunity to replace it with a "dynamic music experience" or whatever, meaning that the music that plays in game is determined by where you are, and what you're doing, meaning you won't hear certain tracks until you go to the places where they live, like null space or wormholes.
They might have changed how stuff works since, but those were the things that were said back when the jukebox was removed.
To answer your questions more directly: More code always means a higher risk of something breaking, which is why they don't want to keep code they aren't going to maintain, and since they didn't want to maintain the jukebox code, that does mean it increased the odds of stuff breaking.
And they didn't fall out with the artist, they're still using the same music. |

I was just about to complain about the EVE soundtrack library being just a horrible mess on Soundcloud, and ask for a single-package download in .mp3 or something else properly cleaned up and nicely labeled. I'm having to go through and manually properly label the tracks and insert the album info onto them, and with nearly 70 tracks, it's REALLY REALLY ANNOYING.
But in general, EVE could use a major sound revamp on the music side, taking a lot of cues from the iconic themes that others have noted, and more importantly, taking cues from the recent trailers like 'This is EVE' and Emergent Threats to really kick it up a notch. |

Wonderful Discussion,
Certainly, the music of eve, both past and present were truly great compositions.
The "Art of New Eden" hardcover book was recently released and put forth for sale.
Two Thoughts...
- Could similar be done for the Music of the past? produced by CCP in limited runs, and offered as a special edition product for those interested?
- Alternativley? similar concept, but incorperated into the New Eden Store a way to purchase the "Jukebox" through micro transations?
Both providing the music to players who enjoy it, and CCP with additional funding. |

I have been working this issue (=how to control EVE music) a lot recently and this is answer. It seems that I can download EVE music from EVE Files and my keyboard has extra programmable keys to control media player. I programmed one key to open my media player, load all music from one directory (EVE music in it) and start playing music automatically. While EVE client is up I can pause music, play music, activate next song and activate previous song without going out from EVE client.
Here is link to download EVE music: http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/Xercodo/EVE_In-Game_Soundtrack.zip
Here is command line example how to load music player and load EVE music with one keystroke: C:\mediaplayerdirectory\mediaplayer.exe C:\musicdirectory
I have Logitech keyboard so I needed to download software to control media player keys. Software is called Setpoint. http://support.logitech.com/software/setpoint
My keyboard is Logitech Media Keyboard 600.
I hope this helps so you all can enjoy EVE music!

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format.
Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

Luckily I downloaded all the original ingame themes long before the jukebox got axed. If it is of any interest they could possibly be uploaded on eve-files? |

Great post thanks. I love Eve music listen to it all the time at work and gym. The mainstream music on the radio makes me sick.
If you enjoy Eve music check out AlienHand, great atmospheric music. |

Awesome thread, thank you!
I don't think the following songs have been mentioned:
1/ Infidel, from the trailer featuring the coronation of Empress Jamyl Sarum. 2/ New World Order, from the YC118 Amarr Championships announcement. |
