I'm getting ready for some 1v1 PvP and would value some opinions on a Scorp loadout.
Presently, I don't know what the enemy pilot flys but I'm assuming a BS. The one thing I do know is he will be alone.
This is the loadout I have in mind...
High: 4 x H50/Malkuth (Widows/thunderbolts), 2 x Dual 650mm (not sure what ammo) Med: 4 x ECM pods, Stasis web, Warp scrambler (20km), 2 x FS-15 hardners Low: Energy Diags Drones: None due to my missiles!
My real concerns with this loadout are: * With no propulsion booster on the Scorp, I might never get close enough to warp scramble & webify and would have wasted 2 slots. * Damage dealing.. I probably won't be able to choose the combat range mostly because I'm expecting my opponent to have a faster ship. This is why I've predominantly chosen missiles (no skills for cruise atm). * Targeting speed.. If my opponent also has 4 x ECM it's going to be a case of whoever locks 1st. What is it I need to reduce my lock time? Alternatively I could put up with the slow lock and fit a sensor booster in a low slot I suppose.
Any comments/thoughts/suggestions?

I have been a scorp pilot for nearly 4 months now and it is a challenge to get your loadout right!
Presently I am running this although I change it daily.
High SLots
1. XR3200 launcher with Mjoliner Torps 1. XR3200 launcher with Paradise Cruise
I have devastator cruise on board that I can switch to if I want to.
1. Mega beam lazer with Multi crystal 1. Mega beam lazer with Multi crystal 1. Mega Pulse lazer with Infrared Crystal 1. Mega Pulse lazer with Infrared Crystal
Med Slots
1. EM Ward 1. Heat Ward 1. ECM Multi 1 (sometimes Kaptean arrays)(sometimes EM ward)(sometimes ECCM Gravi 1+4) 1. ECM Multi 1 (sometimes Kaptean arrays) 1. ECM Multi 1 (sometimes Kaptean arrays) 1. ECM Multi 1 (sometimes Kaptean arrays) 1. F90 (sometimes web)(sometimes EM ward) 1. Warp Disruptor 20km one
Low Slots
1 ECCM gravi 1 + 2 to gravi 1 ECCM gravi 1 + 2 to gravi 1 ECCM gravi 1 + 2 to gravi 1 Power diag 1
Well this was last night anyways ha ha. With my LvL 5 Signature anal and the F90 I can lock in less than 2 secs
The ECCM in low give me 22 base gravi which means I am very hard to jam even by two or 3 ships.
Most ships do not carry jamming equipment at all and go for big damage (apart from pirate support vessels) This is why the scorp is feared. It takes 6 ECM Multis to jam me with this setup. If I run the ECCM gravi 1 in med that gives me base gravi of 26 and means 7 ECM Multi to jam me which is silly.
Most (not all) pilots in battle get very flustered :) I suggest you practice chaos jamming.
1. Lock all ships and jam the first. He is now jammed and knows it. If he is inexperienced he will be flustered with whats going on and also not know what to do next, he is jammed right!
2. Unjam him and jam the second. The first will still think he is jammed for a while anyways. Sometimes he will stay thinking he is still jammed and not try to reaquire you.
3. The second will now be jammed and know he has lost lock. If your lucky he will think like the first. Unlock him and jam the the next etc and round you go. Chaos! for them anyways.
This creates much confusion as you can imagine. and also much having to re-aquire lock on you. All the while you stay warp jamming one and take him out. Do not mix fire across targets with a scorp as you cant deal enough damage to do that. Fire all at one target only always. Try and target the cruiser and take him out. A loss of a ship also affects others play (more flustering if your lucky)
Still all of this depends who your up against, I would not recomend it against the more experienced SPVD mind :) Normally if theres 4 ships Ill bail although SOul can get a bit gung ho in the heat of it and has been known to take on 6+ before now up in Venal and escape to :) 3 ships and ill always have a go.
Have fun more than anything as it is a game afterall and not important if you lose and or get it wrong, well if you've got 5 spare scorps in hanger mind ha ha ha If you only have 1!!!!?? be carefull.

Don't really see the point of using hardeners AND target jamming in 1on1, but whatever floats your boat I guess.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

Well Like I said I do change it all the time :) Sometimes Just all hardeners sometimes all jamming sometimes a mixture. If you dont play then you dont know what works and what dont :)

@Soul Reaver: Thanks for the tips. I like your 'locking chaos' technique, very handy :) I'm sure as I can be that I'm going to be in a 1:1 battle so I won't get the chance to use it just yet.
How long can you run those lasers while keeping the ECM's going?

What about incoming FoF's?

Or drones for that matter. But i've found that neither of these are able to kill you before you kill them, so they're not much of a problem.

Try utilizing the ship bonus.

Shield HP: Of course. Hybrid range bonus: Hmm, 425mm railguns? No. Dual 250mm railguns? Possibly, but IMHO they're not the best choice for a scorpion. If the scorpion is supposed to do the stasis bit, close range weaponry seems like a wise choice.
Edit: Btw, you should REALLY train cruise missiles when you're using caldari ships. At least train torpedos, heavy missiles are pretty weak even vs cruisers.

Can't be done. Because one of the bonuses is +5% to shields and always used, the other one is +5% to large hybrids, which is completely useless.
Believe me, you don't want to use widowmakers as missiles. Every single pilot in EVE carries EM and thermal hardener. So thermal missiles are crap.
And my scorp would beat Soul Reaver's Scorp But like he said... The scorp is very versatile. You'll want to use very different setups depending on the situation you expect to face.

Most of my friends who drive scorpions prefer to use sensor dampeners instead of ECMs, since they work equally well against all types of ships and don't require you to be up close. Also, they require less capacitor charge to maintain than ECMs. Is there a reason that you guys seem to prefer ECMs over a combo sensor dampeners and backup sensors?

Very simple. Sensor dampeners doesn't stack without penalty after the patch. And to warp scramble someone you have to be within 20km... So sensor dampeners are not good if you intened to provent your victim for escaping.

The penalty is quite large, too. I tried using 4 Indirect scanning dampeners (0.46x range), about 11% of the original targeting range (45000m -> ~5000m) was "left". Now, imagine a scorpion with long range targeting 4 and a regular, market sensor booster: 80000*1.2*1.5 = 144km 0.11*144 = 15.84km In other words, you can't even stasis him without getting into his range.
ECM is quite tricky.
