Problem: Whenever you group your weapons, the icon seems to move to a random open spot.
Solution: Design it so that when you group a weapon, the grouped icon is displayed in the first available spot. |

Then you need to figure that not all players put their guns in the f1 slot. Personally I tend to put my point there and put guns on f2, so therefore the default should be f2, not f1, to accomodate me. The idea that when grouping a new set of weapons to the first slot open. Is...a good idea. However I do not believe it takes priority over much more pressing issues. Such as T3 rebalance, SOV space, High/Low/Null sec balancing, ship rebalancing and so on.
If a Dev could write the code and have it work, he would probably be so bored it would be in his free time. And even then actually adding it the game would mean time set aside.
So yeh, Good idea. But not massively important. It honestly doesn't take that long to group and move your weapons to the F1 shortcut. Also I only group my weapons once, and generally will not ungroup them in space. The only time I will ungroup my weapons is when a corp member, sitting in something squishy, is talking some smack that only a single shot of antimatter would be an appropriate response. Iain and frostys are just trolls, have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation, and will be ignored.
1) My idea may not be as important as balancing some ships, but it seems to be an easy fix to something that annoys me.
2) I'm sure that many other players have thought the same thing, but have not asked.
3) The weapons would be grouped in the first available slot, meaning that it would replace the single weapon unit in that slot and not effect any other slots. |

Well, So far the people who have bothered to post in this thread have either said,
A, sure but other things are more important.
Or
B, It is not at all necessary and doesn't really effect anything at all. Thus it is a pointless thing to ask for.
Both are more valid responses than, "It annoys me therefore it should be fix"
I find the massive amounts of Mobile Tracker Units in Trade Hubs to be annoying. Why should I have to click, find the remove button and click again? >.>
That's basically what you are asking for. Many people may find something annoying but it's just an opinion. I honestly don't care that the group doesn't put my weapons on the first open slot on my highs. Also saying, "I'm sure that other people have the same idea" What other people? Can you provide evidence that other people, have said this? If you cannot thats just an empty and pointless thing to say because it doesn't further anything at all.
As for an easy fix, Do you write code for video games? Do you know how long it takes to write a command like that? If not, then you shouldn't be assuming it's an easy fix. EVE is really old, and has a lot of backwater **** built into the engine from what I have picked up. For all we know, the 'basic' code would break the UI. Psychotic Monk for CSM9 |

It literally takes a few seconds to regroup and organize modules. There's no reason for something like this, people should actually have to work to do things, not have it spoon fed to them.
Literally that guy was right, it takes half a second to move it to F1

Half a second (or 5 if it's under something else) times the ten thousand times you do it in a laser ship because of crystals breaking unevenly = a significant amount of time. Multiply that by the number of people who this affects (Everyone) and you actually have a real time sink that will irritate people. This is worth doing.
However the best place is in the 'Little things' thread as this isn't a major, but something small. |

Then we should return to text-only games, right? Because that is all you really need, graphics are just icing on the cake.
I have asked people and the do agree that it would be nice to have. Some think it is too little to worry about, but the little things is what makes the game enjoyable. |

I want to start by pointing out to everyone that the teams who do code-writing are not the teams who do rebalancing, figuring out sov fixes, design new ships or any of that. I also suspect that the people who work on lag aren't precisely the same people who write code for this kind of thing. It seems very much like a CCP karkur sort of request and I haven't heard anything about her team being assigned to improve TiDi.
I want to end by agreeing with everyone else that this is such an incredibly small issue that it doesn't even warrant reading by an ISD. (Even though we all know you're reading it anyway.)
Normally I'd support something trivial if it features as a matter of "polish", but in this case it doesn't even do that. Additionally, OP doesn't seem to understand that when you group modules together, they go into the slot occupied by the first module in the group. I'll leave it for OP to deduce on his own how the "first module in the group" is determined. |

No, they don't, otherwise there would be no reason to request that it does so. The "first module in the group" is self-explanatory

Having a continual problem on my Paladin where it goes into F8, despite the fact I only use 5 high slots, I can say with 100% certainty this does not work the way you think it does. |

You're in a sparsely furnished room, roughly 3 meters square. The North wall is blank, save for a small shelf holding the remnants of a pictureframe. The East wall has a large fireplace taking up most of the available space. There are several items on the mantle, all covered in a layer of dust. The West wall contains a small bed, with threadbare sheets and a moth-eaten blanket. The South wall has no furnishing of significance, with a door set in the center, and framed by a window on either side.

On the occasions in which I group weapons, they group into the slot the first weapon was in, after which I drag them to where I want them and lock the slots. Any other behavior suggests a bug, and should have a bug report tossed at CCP, so they can track it down and stomp it before it lays eggs |
