I know have all the skills to fly either ship but don't want to buy both yet. I would most probably use it for ratting and pvp in low sec/0.0, however, I can't make up my mind, even after studying the info.
What should I be thinking about with this decision?
And also should I go for Beam or pulse laser specialization?

If you're ratting, go for the retribution. Its not very useful for PVP though :)

choose what you want to do...
ratting: retribution hands down
pvp: crusader probably...
Vengeance kinda sucks tbh... but you could use that for pvp...
Although in a gang with other frigs/af a retri is a very nice damage addition :)

I fly a retri all the time i love the ship. I put a full tanking setup on it and can tank almost every 0.0 belt i fly into. And ya its usless in solo pvp but if u have a friend or 2 to lock the target down it can put out a lot of damge in groups.

Untill amarr get a decent small beam laser, another mid on the retri, and more fitting on the sader the gallente versions are just......better.
The Retri may be mildly better for pve than an Ishkur or Enyo but both gallente AF's are better in the vast majority of pvp situations. Ranis is probably tied for best intie. 3 mids, mad dps, AND a drone bay.

Yep i agree with ^^ partially but to elaborate, Amarr Frigate 5 is a complete waste of time, go for another racial frigate5 if u wanna fly decent af and inties.

Naa the crusader is awesome, it carries less punch than a ranis, but it can fit a web and have drones!! Oh wait..
