Edited by: AKGUTWORM on 17/07/2006 08:05:26 well i know i will probly be flamed to hell for this but
what if there was a modual or a drone that would like fire
drop pods into a enemy ship causing the escape pod to egect
but you would have to be within say 1700m distance from the
target and it would just use the same sort of thing as the
scrambling bar only it would take like differnt time to
compleat in the size of the ship like a frig witch has only
4-5 crew mebers wouldent take to long but a battleship
with thousands of crew members would take much longer to
kill. this also helps to balance the idea because it would
be much harder to stay in range of a frig than a battleship
but the battleship would have longer to fight off the ship
trying to board it. also there could be a dedicated class
of ships for this that could fit more than one of these
moduals ond have a bouns for them. but this now makes it
posable for a frig to combat a battle ship. any ways tell
me wht you think.

The ability to forcibly remove a pilot from his ship eliminates all other tactics and negates the value of insurance for carebears.
You could steal any mining ship in EvE and the rightful owner would get neither insurance nor an opportunity to pay ransom. Piracy would turn into a sort of PvP mining, done with warp scramblers, webbers, ECM and these things, with no need for weapons at all.
Even if they only work when the target's under 3% hull, the lack of insurance payout is what ruins it. And if you give insurance payouts, isk sellers can sit in Kakakela, trade cans and steal ships back and forth all day, getting huge insurance payouts and then just giving the ship back and doing it again.
I can't imagine a ship hijacking option that would be worthwhile in EvE.
And what's with the format up there? Breaking in a new Enter key?

Frankly, if you aren't willing to spend thirty seconds to spellcheck and format your post, I don't see why I should spend the same time to read it despite the lousy spelling and annoying formatting. -------------------- Do you have a solution to the BM and instas problem? Notice that when your structure goes to 0%, you see the message that your ship is being boarded. It seems that our ships have a self-destruct mechanism, so that when they are boarded by enemy forces, the pilot's pod capsule is ejected and the ship explodes.
Boarding parties are a neat idea, but must be done very carefully if at all. I don't think the boarding party should be able to take control of the ship except in very rare cases. Usual effects would be more like one of these:
1) item stolen from cargo hold and brought to enemy ship with returning drop pod (very small cargo capacity)
2) module sabotaged -- it goes offline though it may be put back online by the pilot if the ship's capacitor can handle it
3) warp drive sabotaged -- ship cannot warp for some period of time

The problem with that is, that there is no crew in a ship. YOU are piloting it with YOUR pod and YOUR Aurora (ship computer). Nothing else is in there.

Untrue per prime fiction.

Maya Rkell is right on the money, if you read some of the fiction stories, there are crews in your ships. You, the pilot are safely tucked away in your pod with only the ships AI communicating with you. You give the orders and it gets carried out, simple as that.
Now Maya is going to have me going through and catching up on more fiction :) ----------

One Backstory that proves the point that ships do have crews.

Lol in other words make it impossible to anyone to carry T2 BPOs.
And you can't board a ship if you do it self destructs. The end.

Actually, that's a notification that you are boarding your pod. It's kind of a glitch. See, what happens, technically, is that a capsule spawns and you "board" it, like when you change ships at a ship maintenance array. It's not your ship being boarded.
The game doesn't actually register a pod existing inside each ship. The pod is only brought into being when you eject or explode.

So we are actually just sitting in our ships, and when they blow up, a pod appears out of thin air and we get teleported into it unharmed! SWEET! The joy of advanced technology :D

That's a dumb message from CCP, actually it's just labelled the wrong way... should read more like "Pod is being ejected".... We are in the Pod all the time (except stations methinks, but I need to read it up on the Backstories again).
