Well as title says I'm new to eve and I've almost finished my tutorials. Question is what do I do now? None of my friends play and I haven't a clue how to meet new people in eve . Any advice would be welcome thanks |

Lesson 2; join a corp and make friends. Also, find a goal for yourself and get working on it.
(also; not just any corp will do. You want to try to find one with members with the same interests and similar goals to you) |

No clue on how to meet other people in game? You're in a starter corp with 100's of other players, all you have to do is just say hello in corp chat.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but aren't new players only allowed to post in the New Citizens Q&A sub-forum in their first 30 days of playing this game?

Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine and into the brain, where they ferment. They then migrate to your keyboard via your fingers. That's where shiptoasts come from.

Guess I missed that update.
Anyway, thanks for the correction.

The only real question you need to ask yourself is how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?
The further down is directly tied to how much time you have to sink in to the game. It can range from 6 hrs a week to 60. If you fit in the 6 hr a week side you are fine in the corp you are in now. Farm ISK, buy some ships, get them fit. Distribute them in stations you plan to play out of. Enjoy the game as long as you can. The further down the hole you go, the more hours you will need to put in. After a few months you will have some idea of how much time you are spending in the game at a natural level with no influence from other people. |

You are already meeting new people in EVE. Check out the Q&A to get some ideas as to what you might like to do. Once you've got it narrowed down a bit, come up with something resembling a plan for how to get there. Finding yourself a corp is a good step as well, there are several newbie friendly corps of good repute out there. From there it's all up to you as to where you go. I do also recommend checking C&P as well, as you can get some insights as to the seedier side of EVE. |

The things above. ^^
But, whatever you do, don't become a miner. Seriously. It's terrible isk and beyond boring. Personally, I would recomend getting out of highsec early by looking for a good lowsec corp. "CCP Dolan is full of ****." - CCP Bettik

Thanks guys for the awsome info. I've been reading up a bit here and there in my spare time trying to learn the different aspects of the game. So far i think its pretty cool ( if boring at first).
I've learned about skills and wich one's i should train first ( god they take so long) and have been reading up on Exploration. I've also talked with a few corp's, although mostly for advice since i'm still learning i dont want to be a burden to anyone so i'll stay in the corp i'm in.
Realy apreciate the info if you have more advice i'll be online daily . Thanks ! |

Aleria Jones wrote:Realy apreciate the info if you have more advice i'll be online daily . Thanks ! In terms of back to your original question about how to meet people, you've made a better start than many on that.
EvE is a social game much better when played in a group, or with other people to talk to. Playing it alone is a killer unless you really know how to entertain yourself.
Primarily, the game rewards people who don't wait for it to provide them with gameplay, but who go out and find their own content and/or who share content with others.
So, some specific ideas that may help:
1. Here in the forum - there is a Core of people dedicated to this game, who are able to help 2. EVE New Citizens Q&A sub-forum - as mentioned above 3. In game chat channels - there are many good ones. Some of the more useful one's I know:
- Local chat in many systems is a perfect place to meet people. - Explore-EVE - Bombers Bar - Eve Radio - Bringing Solo Back - Rookie Help (haven't used it myself) - Redemption Road
There are many other active public channels too.
As the the game being boring at first, I agree and also found that since each experience was new, there was enough to keep the interest up. The next step is really the one you've started to take, looking for other players to interact with.
The best thing you could do in my opinion, is not be scared that you'll be a burden on a Corp if you joined. The NPC Corps provide very little to assist you find other opportunities for content. Player run Corps provide that all the time if they are active.
The main thing is to have some idea of what you want to do - pvp, explore, missions, mining, manufacturing, etc, - early on so you can find the right people that will help.
[Shameless plug]If you want to focus on pvp, we'd be more than happy to help. Link to our forum thread is in my signature.
Anyway, all the best and I hope you enjoy the game.

Not a bad thing. With a little guidance the newbies can become wolves as well. Just gotta catch em while they're young so as to keep them from getting their heads filled up with all sorts of wrong-minded misconceptions. |

If you want to play it safe and grind ISK, there are tons of articles about how to mission effectively from just about day 1.
If you want to meet people who don't suck. Save up some money, buy 5 t1 frigs and park them next door to a low sec system. Fly around in low sec, get blown up, get your pod out while saying gf in local, and talk to whoever it was that blew you up. Ask for advice on fits and tactics.
Having fun and a good attitude and asking questions will lead you to a corp that doesn't suck. Eventually you will run into someone who knows enough to give you helpful advice, and if you keep at it, you might get invited to a corp.
If you don't feel like taking that very minimal risk (even if your pod does get popped, your clone is still super cheap), join up with Red vs Blue and hang out with us. Turrents |
