In live situations (as opposed to pre-recorded), many broadcasters/commentators will do it deliberately to give them an extra half-second to decide what to say next.
If you're feeling especially lost, you could extend it further using phrases like "most definitely", or "without a doubt", etc.

Well...
Oh.
In that case, don't any of you use the word, or I will have my evil robots mutilate you in extremely painful ways.
Originally by: Lumel yes, "lol" "u" "r" "ur" "your/you're" and all the other brain damaged ways of talking on the intarweb tend to annoy me.
I actually find that word to be pretty indicative of brain damage, too.
Originally by: Severe McCald The use of the swear word beginning with f***, as adverb, adjective, verb, noun and punctuation (replacing "um" I suspect) in a single sentence. No problem with the word itself used for emphasis. I just cannot understand what the f**k those f**king f**kers are f**king f**ked about, for f**ks sake etc.
I actually don't mind that.
Reminds me of the time a friend of mine walked into the room and yelled "Shut the ******* **** up you *******, ******* **** *******!"
I think you have to be a Bostonian to really do that properly...although it comes out a bit more like "facking"... ------------------ Originally by: kieron Buy ISK for RL cash here!

'outwith' I heard it for the first time in 1995 when I started work in Edinburgh. I still don't fully understand what it means and survived quite happily before coming across this word, which suggests it is completely redundant. ------------------------------ 'The man who used the universe' |

Are you sure its an Americanism? It doesn't seem like the kind of word that would be... look it up in the OED.
And yes, we also have the Curate (form of priest) over here, though I've never heard it used for that: its listed in the Mirriam-Webster dictionary next to the verb form.

It has nothing to do with plural. When you're using the past tense, it's "was". When you're speaking in the hypothetical, it's "were". ------------------ Originally by: kieron Buy ISK for RL cash here!

Everyone who is mentioning the word KEK seems to have forgotten the old Popeye laugh. That must pre-date the word as used by the English for underpants, I actually understood this to be kaks anyway.
The Northerners call underpants 'Trolleys' and it always made me wonder why they called their underpants by the same name as something you leave behind in supermarket car parks Is there some connection there?

Wrong. Grammar, in this case, is the noun being supported in the sentence. Therefore, "was" is correct. If you remove "on the forums" the sentence would read complete, but it would be written wrong due to the word "were."
"I wish my grammar was as good as it was in real life."
"I wish the forums were as good as it is in real life."
I'm not trying to be condesending, but... do you understand? --- --- --- ---
