Its likely thats what they were there for, however had they actually repped him, they will always go suspect. (Providing remote assistance to anyone with a LE timer will flag you suspect.)
A good idea to counter this is to have a buddy ready to intervene. As you have stated, most of your corpies may be rather new, but dont let that dissuade you. How can you be effective as a new player?
In this situation, I would have a corp mate accompany you in an ECM ship, off grid, but in your fleet. Have him align to you and be at speed so they can instawarp at range from your LE and jam out the logi.
A blackbird is an exceptional ship that will let players with lower-ish skillpoint pilots make a very high impact on fleet engagements. It takes a few days of training to have a combat-capable ECM ship, but for jamming out logi, you could possibly (depending if they are comp trained or running ECCM) be effective with a few hours of training.
ECM is also fantastic at producing tears. Killboard

This type of thing can give you info about what he intends to do even before the fight start.
If he ask to fight at a planet his tactics will be different than if he ask to do it at a station etc... you need to learn those and you need to have answers to each.

You'll be able to kill him, but you might need some help. Hunting a single target is very time intensive and most players will charge high prices for it unless they know that the target will be an easy high value kill. He messaged me wanting to fight again... I convinced him to pay for my clone and part of my ships so i got some money back and will be fighting him again soon. I can use my corpies for EWAR while i dish out dps
I will have an exact time and location the fight will be taking place. I will be making a new corp for him to wardec so my corpies can participate. apparently he wants a 3/4 v 1 kind of fight. |

It would be good to go in expecting him to play dirty, and plan for it. If he does not, then cool, you can have your fun 3 on 1 fight with him. But if he pulls something funny, it would be good to have some backup ready. Tengu Grib > I agree. The distinct lack of quality spaceships makes RL the worst space sim ever. @OP Just a heads up that the guy who killed you could have read this post and offered to help you pay him a hefty sum to kill his main. That or he could lure you into taking your money and killing you again. The ONLY way you will know its legit is if you do it yourself. Trust no one, especially the people who are offering in game help.
My advice: - Skill up to something stealthy that packs a punch. - Find a locator agent and track that sucker down. Check killmails to see what he flies. Find the systems he likes hanging around in. - Pay him a visit and blow his brains out. - Send him an evemail thanking him for the experience.

Do you even lift, brah?
My offer to help the OP was not one of "lets fleet up in lowsec" so I can "teach you". There are many, many things that should just be EXPLAINED to someone learning the ropes of PVP. Transversal. Explosion velocity. Signiture radius effects on weapons and tracking. MAKING SURE YOUR DAMAGE CONTROL IS ON, ect. Many, many more.
New players will be the lifeblood of this game. If we expect it to keep on trucking, than as a community (albeit a dysfunctional one), it is our job to ensure they enter EvE knowing the ropes, knowing the risks, and guide them to player interaction and not grinding rocks in a belt.
So yes, never trust anyone in EvE is a great mantra to live by, but we all need a mentor. ****, even the Sith trained recruits. (Even if to be killed by them later!)
Any advice you receive from myself or the others whom have posted here will be legit. It wont be given out in "duel me" format, but rather an explanation of game mechanics. Killboard

The notion that the criminal element of EVE is comprised solely of basement dwelling sociopaths is pretty much flawed. For the most part folks here will respect newbros who come in search of actual advice or help. It's the spunkmonkeys who come in sperging with their pants on their heads that draw fire upon themselves.

The one thing I don't like about this game is that PVP can be forced upon you without consent, I know its the driving motive for about 90% of the playerbase and the economy, and the whole purpose of the game. I dont think there is any game that has that fuction. I enjoy some pvp, I just typically dont like doing it until I am prepared, most games allow you to do PVP on your own timeframe. I am looking forward to some pvp lessons. I just wish that the thing i play the game for (Mining) wast taken away from me. My buddies and i have a phrase. 'Douchebaggery for the sake of Douchebaggery'. It seems some peope live off the pain and suffering of others. I can understand why they blew my freighter. I had a lot of cargo, it was a business decision. But the thing I cant comprehend is why people want to make your life a living hell and make the game a miserable place for you, just because they can do it.
I have had a few frig fights, and find them very entertaining. My blood rushes, its exhilerating. Never killed anyone though doing it. I was going to buy every T1 Frigate bpo and my corp was going to have a Frigate Fight Night. Each corp member would pick a frigate and I was going to make them 5. They fit it any way they want, but only T1 items, no meta 4 or T2. Then we were going to have some games, a battle royal, and a few team fights. But this wardec has cost us some money and set us back at least a week from being able to make this happen.
I was also going to make a death race. Set out some secure cargo containers as markers and fly around the system where you can shoot people on your way. |

The thing that makes EvE its own category is precisely the point that PVP is able to be forced upon you at any time.
The key is to always be prepared. Always be willing to lose what you are flying. Never undock in anything you dont want to, -or cannot afford - to lose.
You stand on the thin line between carebear and becoming a pvp pilot.
Tell me, does running a level 4 mission get your blood pumping the way that a fight to the death with a real target does? I know the feeling you describe, and I remember it well. The reason you get that while playing this game is that your losses are GONE forever. Your choices in this game have the potential to influence THOUSANDS (look at James 315...)
By all means, do what you wish to, but never become one of those players who wish the game to be nerfed based upon your unwillingness to fight. Killboard

I used to PK when I played runescape. I LOVED pking, I had so many various pking accounts. That adrenaline rush when you fight someone is fun, my whole body starts shivering like its freezing even though it isnt. In runescape, when you die, you lose your stuff (except for 3 items) it was not a carebear pvp like WoW. I also used to play a game called Starport: Galactic Empires, a space mmo where you could build on planets and fight in space. I was one of the top 1v1 Duelests on my server. I am not afraid of pvp, I enjoy PvP. I am just not ready for EVE PvP. |

If you welp it (and lets be honest, you probably will), rinse, recycle, and repeat.
It's cheap, its fun, and your corpies will learn lots of stuff.
Also, if you manage to kill a blingy boat with your derpfrig fleet, the tears will flow. Count on this...;)

And the 1 time I was about to win my computer froze and i couldnt click my cap booster so i died. I am however looking to take those pvp lesson sthat were offered. 1v1 fighting is proving to be quite a bit of fun and soon as I have the bpos I plan to start producing my own ships to throw into the fray because its fun. And I am learning the value of good fitting skills and why officer and deadspace loot is so valuable. Doing missions fitting was never a big deal, anything besides T2 was just icing on a cake, but in pvp 1-2 pg/cpu makes a huge difference. Today was short by .1 PG. and I had to change my fit completely as a result.
I am learning so much bashing my head against this wall and it is enjoyable but some structured teachings could be of great value. |

Just from reading that one post, you already know more about Eve than most people who have been playing x5 longer than you. You'd probably beat me in a 1v1 (I'm awful). If you'd like to test that theory, hit me up with a mail in game. You could probably talk me into providing you a combat ship to fight me in. Who knows, maybe I can give you some tips you can use to turn the tables on your mentor. Tengu Grib > I agree. The distinct lack of quality spaceships makes RL the worst space sim ever.
