Edited by: CB Apollo on 18/07/2006 12:54:27 If my wep caused 100 damage, and I fired it every ten seconds at you, it would cause 10 damage per second:
100 / 10 = 10 DPS
If I had a 5% damage boost, thats now 105 damage every ten seconds:
105 / 10 = 10.5 DPS
If I had a 5% ROF increase, still 100 damage but now 0.5 seconds faster:
100 / 9.5 = 10.526 DPS
The difference is 10.526 / 10.5 = 1.0025 so basically its 0.025% more.
So the 5% damage is still 5% more DPS, But the 5% ROF is atually 5.025% more DPS.
So for all that 0.025% boost your weps are costing you 5% more cap use/ammo.
I still fail to see how its worth the hastle...

Edited by: PriceCheckMax on 18/07/2006 12:59:35 1/0.75 = 1,333...
1 x 1.25 = 1,25
1/0.5 = 2
1 x 1.5 = 1,5
that and you can use a setup that won't be hurt much by cap use/ammo use (armageddon...!)

Do the math for higher levels of ship skill and it will become significant.
As for 25%:
Damage: 125/10 = 12.5 DPS which is 25% more DPS.
RoF: 100/7.5 = 13.333 DPS which is 33% more DPS, amounting to a 6% raw increase and a 33% better bonus. And that IS worth it. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

Nope, it's 0.25% more.
Another thing is that the differences between ROF and +damage get higher the bigger the bonus gets. The first 5% boost is effeciently the biggest boost for +damage and the smallest for +ROF.
With a 25% bonus you get there 13.333/12.5 = 1.0666, aka 6.7% more dps with +ROF. Considering the higher cap and/or ammouse not THAT uber compared to +damage, but IMO pretty much balanced with it.
