I recieved some small F.O.F. missiles as loot and noticed you need a specific skill to use them. In comparing their stats with standard small missiles, there doesn't seem to be that big of a difference, and not enough to warrant a specialized skill. Am I missing something? Are these anything special?

FOF Missiles don't need to get a target lock to fire them iirc. This can be useful in a PVP perspective: even if the other guy managed to jam you, you can still hurt him. I've never used them myself so I can't tell you if that's such a big deal...

I have been trying to figure out the same thing in reference to cruise missles: standard or FOF, when used with a stealth bomber, it seems that you can fire and run away or recloak with the FoF's but need to hang around /stay a target with stardard versions to keep them targeted on the enemy

You cant cloak if your targeted by some one.
FOF's are ment for firing off before you get at lock or if the target as you jammed, also FOF's do not do as much damage as there standed types _______________________________________________ How I feel about Eve: the love/hate-ometer:

Edited by: Arganoth Gorn on 18/07/2006 16:58:09 If I ever get a second account, I thought about fitting a ship with FoF missiles and passive shield tank - so I could just "set and forget", and concentrate on managing my main ship. Not sure how well it would work with supporting my main ship, hopefully I'll get to try it someday.
Anyway, I always carry some FoF missiles just in case I get jammed. Have not had to use them yet, probably because I have not done PvP.

FoF are also good for taking out Drones.
But also that said they can be stupid and target the closed 'threat' which might be an in-active sentry gun and not that group of cruisers ripping into your shields :)

Do the FoF missiles target something mid-flight? Say for example you fire 5 missiles and the first one destroys the target. Will the last 4 target other ships or will they fly off into space?

If it's targeted that destroyed ship they will just fly off into space. No targeting on the fly, or so I've noticed.

Unless you get the FOF skill to 5, at which point they do the same damage as their normal versions. FOF missiles are also affected by the skill that affect their missile class (eg heavy missile skill boosts up 'normal' heavy missiles and FOF heavy missiles) and all secondary missile skills.
To acompton, if you recloak, FOF missiles stop working like normal missiles. If you're close enough you can fire and recloak and during the 3-4 seconds of the cloaking animation, if the missiles are in range, they will hit.
