I have a similar problem and similar system too
am running AMD 4400+ X2 (overclocked to 4800+ specs) 2x 232GB Seagate Hard drives setup in RAID 0 2 gig crucial RAM Windows XP Geforce 7600GT
I think it might be a problem with either nvidia drivers or dual core conflict. no solution yet :(

Edited by: Rathroc on 21/07/2006 17:52:31 I have the exact same problem, my friend enjoys mocking me about it.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800 2x250 gig maxtor drives in raid 0 2 gigs (4x512) kingston DDR400 memory Windows XP pro BFG 7800 GTX
the error logs generally read as follows:
<string>:2551: FutureWarning: hex()/oct() of negative int will return a signed string in Python 2.4 and up
<string>:598: FutureWarning: hex()/oct() of negative int will return a signed string in Python 2.4 and up
and lastly reinstalls have not helped.

Wierd...
How often are you crashing. Does it jump/crash straight to the windows screen ?
Any Dev/GM/Super Tech have any views on what seems to be a problem with dual cores maybe ?

Eerie, I have a very similar system, and the exact problem. Infuriating trying to move long distances. I found switching off advanced graphic options and moving to a window helped a little, or it may have just been luck/placebo. I tried clearing the cache, but that didn't seem to do any good.
I have a 4400 X2 74 Raptor 2gig ram Win32 7800gtx SLI
Latest drivers too. What we all should really do is turn on the logging, generate the crash, and submit a bug report. Maybe when I get home... |

Sorry to reply to myself But might be worth trying two things:
1) affix eve to one core. There's some utilities floating around that do it, and it shouldn't really harm performance that much. 2) disable SLI for eve. I suspect it's the more exotic/complicated things that are causing the problem, so simplifying might help. |

Have you tried those yet ?
I tried restoring to factory optimized , redone everything
Still crashing after a few jumps .

I get the same thing on both of my systems:
Desktop: amd 4000+ 2 leadtek 7800gtx 256m sli asus sli deluxe mainboard creative xfi soundcard 2 gig dual ddr400
Laptop: Dell xps m1710 centrino duo T2600 2 gig ram nvidia 7900gtx 512mg vid card
Both ctd randomly when warping. Another thing to note. When i quit eve, if i leave the laptop just sit there, after mmm 10 or so minutes i get a blue screen memory parity error. Only happens after i quit eve. I play other games/movies/blah and never have that problem.
So with the ctd, the common hardware link between my 2 systems is nvidia gtx.

I had this issue as well and it was 100% caused by the sound driver. Turn of sound completly (through the ini) and see if your prob has been resolved. Another solution could be updating your sounddriver or using an older version of the sound driver. In my case I had to use an older sounddriver (SigmaTel High Definition Audio chip).

The sound disabling _seemed_ to work for me. Just to clarify, my problems only happened when entering a system, usually after a number of jumps. Warping around in one or a few systems never was an issue. But I disabled audio in the ini, and did a 30-jump route with no crashes.
'course, that's no proof I didn't just get lucky, but it's worth a try. (Still had SLI and dual-cores enabled.) |

Put into windows mode ive not crashed. With Audio on still to note .
But im far from happy having to use this sort of system in windows mode which i disgust so its a big shame at the moment . will have to see how it plans out .

putting eve into windowed mode seems to have solved the problem though I wish I didn't have to reposition the screen to see as little border as possible every time I play eve.

My disk seems fine, scanned it and got no errors.
Turning off audio didn't work. (I thought it did, but nope.) Turning off SLI didn't work. Using only one core didn't work.
It seemed to happen at fixed points. When I was shuttling some stuff (in the Khanid area) from Danera to Parses, when I jumped from Col->Chamemi, I reliably CTDed. (but only if I was making the full run, not just if I hopped back and forth.) It seems like it has something to do with switching servers in the cluster. (As a wild guess.) |

I also had the same problem, using a duel core system but i dont think thats the problem as friend is using a single core 64bit athlon and he has the same issue. the only thing we had the same was XP64.
I performed a full update earlier and so far i have done well over 40 jumps and not 1 CDT.
Fingers crossed and hope windows update helps everyone else
