i recently posted this on the ship fitting board by mistake dunno why i thought i was on the mission board anyway here it is again hi i have recently begun doing lvl 4's with a friend im in a raven he is in either a tempest or typhoon now my question is whom of us should fit to be main tank? also wich is better for mission typhoon or tempest? would also just LOVE some suggestions on.. the shield tank fitting for the raven and the armor tank fitting for the temp/phoon thx in advance:)
edit:maybe i should say that the 2 missions we have had a hard time with sofar is guristaX and WC4 guristaX was like our second mission so i doubt that will pose as much of a problem next time WC4 was very hard because of the entire "cant really bring a friend" coding of it from reading the boards i thought that only the 2 rooms after the first would aggro everything else on teammate warping in but that also happened in first room wich took us by surprize in second room(serpentis)my friend went in alone, unfortunatly he had to warp out,and when he warped back in apparantly that constituted another player warping in, because now they all aggroed him=one dead tempest:( i should probably also mention that we both have around 9 mill sp with 2,3 mill in learning giving us mostly lvl 4 in the skills we use with a few 5's and a few 3's we cant use t2 weapons but most of the other t2 gear anyway sure could use some advice i think since it seems most have no problems with lvl 4's even solo

It's a shame neither of you can fly a Dominix, tbh. If one of you remote-armor-reps the Domi, and it's armor tanked, you can launch the drones and go watch a sitcom until everything's dead.
I would suspect that it's easier to tank the Raven than either Minnie ship. I don't fly either though, so that's not an opinion based on experience. ________________________________________________

I would tank the raven, it will still dish out good firepower with 6 cruise launchers and 1-2 bcu's.
I guess for the tempest, 1400mm along with tracking mods and damage mods. maybe a mild tank for safety?

if he's in the same player corp i'd suggest tanking with the ring raven and using remote shield transfers from the phoon or remote cap transfers. but if he's not good with micromanagement and he's not in the same player corp he might endup getting concorded by shooting you by accident or something.

Well, its going to depend upon the mission, but Here is how I would do it.
Rig the Typhoon for drones and mid range fire support. Rig the Raven for Long distance Torping, say 120km (using sensor boosters).
Run your Raven out to 120km and your Tphoon to 60km. Engage the Raven, and as the fast small ships AB out to the phoon, drone em down. Let the Raven continue killing all the carriers and BS.
On missions where you get aggro on warp in, you'll just want to tank out the Typhoon, warp in draw aggro, Vamp and repair like mad, as your Raven is the kill ship.
I use a Dominix/Raven setup. It's near perfect. The Domi has 3 Large Vamp units, drone navigation link, and 70% damage resist to armor all around, and two large reppers. It's a tough tank to break, but has does get hairy on things like the new Mordus Headhunters.

tank the Raven and use the tyPhoon to help tank the Raven with either a remote shield transfer or Cap transfer, and with Drone the typhoon can help kill a lot of Rats
I run a typhoon on lvl 4's armor tank i can do all lvl 4's if the rats Dont argo me at Once which seems to help more often since last patch

On the rare occasion, when I do a few lvl4's, this is my setup =
Main = Raven, 6 x malkuth siege, 2 x heavy lasers, 6 x active shield hardeners, 3 x damage mods and 2 x PDU II Alt = Typhoon, 3 x large shield transfer array, 4 x cap recharger, 7 x cap relay
With this setup, you can tank ANY lvl4-mission. The phoon can run 2 of the shield transfer arrays forever, and the third can be activated in shorter salvoes for the seriously hurting missions.
With this setup, I have yet not had to warp away from any mission¦...

Edited by: Ismern on 20/07/2006 13:16:33 I run L4 kill missions in 0.0 space and I solo all of them in my Raven. (I can run them without even moving.)
You want to know the best tanking scheme?
Raven - HI: 6x 'Arbalest' Cruise Missile Launcher 1x Heavy 'Diminishing' Power Drain 1x Tractor Beam MID: 1x Extra-Large Shield Booster II 1x Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster (800s) 2x T2 Mission Specific Hardeners 2x Invulnerability Field II LOW: 2x Power Diagnostic Unit II 1x Best named Damage Control Mod (you can afford) 2x Warp Core Stabilizers DRONES: 5x T2 Mission Specific Medium Drones 5x T2 Mission Specific Light Drones
This is unquestionably the best setup you can have for running kill missions. You are welcome to disagree with me and tell me why your's is better, and I will laugh as I watch you struggle and die.

Edited by: Muckle on 20/07/2006 13:40:37 I find this is a nice set-up for most missions, and allows even WC to be completed easily without having to warp out, (unless you get careless!). i am at work so bear with me as these are from memory!
Main - Raven, Hi's, 6 x cruise (or torps, or mix of two), 1 nos (size depends on your skills for fitting), one large named smartbomb for the pesky inty's Meds, 1 x XL Booster, 4 Rat specific Hardners, One Sheild Boost amp or Target painter, probably painter is more helpfull if you go for torps Lows, 3 x BCU II's, and from memory a co-pro II and either a RCU II or a PDS II (preferable if you can)
Alt - Osprey (or basilisk if you can) Hi's, 3 Medium remote sheild boosters, one tractor beam or small remote armour rep. Meds, all cap rechargers Lows, all cap power relays (i think this is module, not sure, gives boost to cap at loss of shield boost)
You can swap out one of the med or low modules for something like a cargo expander, afterburner etc as you feel fits. this will still allow you to run 3x transfers indefinitely with no problems, allowing you to complete any mission easily.
I run 2 accounts myself however, and your mate may not take to running about in an osprey too well.

How do you find this with the missions where the wingman warping in causes insta-aggro? Do you go in first with the alt and then second with the raven (thus picking up the aggro) or do you have some other cunning plan?

Raven tanks. Phoon uses 5 heavy shield maintenance bots on the raven (u can untarget the raven after the drones are on him). Should be enough for most missions. On some missions the second entity that enters gets targeted. Let the raven taken full aggro on those stages before the phoon enters.
In case u need more tanking, change raven to scorp, use 4 hardeners, 2 xl boosters, 2 shield boost amps, 4 PDU t2, weapons of choice. Phoon goes with full cap recharger, cap power relays, 2 large cap transferer, weapons of choice (usually torps). this setup can tank 10/10s full aggro with the right hardeners, so it should be enough for most missions.Torps + Cruise + drones should still do enough damage

ermmm..., what's so hard about this?
Tank everything with the Raven, kill it with cruise or torps depending on your skills.
Tell your buddy in the phoon to bring a hauler to pick up loots.
