I remember reading that autocannons and shield tanking weren't compatible...is this true?
I'd like to make an autocannon + shield tank setup for soloing Lvl 4s. Here's my thought:
Hi: 6x 650mm IIs 1x Siege luncher 1x Tractor beam for loot grabbing
Mid: 1x Large Booster 3x Mission-specific active hardeners 1x Boost Amp
Lows: 4x PDS II 2x Gyrostab II
Will this survive lvl 4 missions solo?
Will I be able to break the tanks?
Am I insane? |

The tank is too weak to last against any of the harder level4s. It also does not look very sustainable even for the mid level ones. And since there is no webber, and neither tracking comp nor painter, the only thing you can hurt inties with is your drones. But with that tank, I think they will take too long to kill the inties more often than not and then you die a horrible death.
In short, not good. Get a Raven :D --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

IIRC the tempest has the same cap recharge like the raven.
The only difference is the tempest has one med slot turned into a low slot. And if you look around, some people donŠt even know what to do with the 6th med slot of the raven and fit sensor boosters or cap rechargers there. In the 6th low slot of the tempest you can fit a named damage control.
You can carry 2 heavy web drones and 5 lights. The 2 web drones handle short range bs and cruisers.
Imo the main problem is you have no ab and it will take ages to get into a range where your turrets do full damage.

Those people are severly lacking imagination.

Something that you can also fit in any of the 5 low slots of the raven.
AC Tempest is quite terrible at npcing, given the ammo consumption, tanking issues, and... how other some bs are way better for the job.

Edited by: Crellion on 19/07/2006 22:48:14 For hard deadspace lvl 4s you need:
(a) A mamoth tank (Raven with tech II mods dont cut it without (c) below) or (b) Ability to avid BS dmg (Using a HAC with an AB AND a good tank) or (c) Range so that you take reduced dmg or a combination of the above (a Raven with no faction mods uses a and c)
The shield tank you post is ok-ish for belt ratting in 0.0 and with good skills it will kill the 1st BS b4 it is in trouble and 2nd BS before it runs out of cap and then 3rd BS as things are about to get nasty (talking 1.5>2 mill npcs)
In a lvl4 deadspace you propose to get up close and personal with up to 10BSs 20Cruisers 20frigs and they will ALL be hitting you close range (especially if you dotn have an Ab even). I wont even go into how difficult it would be to get close in time to those that tend to snipe without an afterburner.
I d say ... forget about it.
For non deadspace missions (the encounter type) I bet a tempy with 1400IIs cruise missles 3xgyroIIs some enhanc and a light shiled tank (3 slot ... you ll need a sensor booster- perhaps even 2 slot with an ab and a booster) will do very nice (against angels etc)
