Okay so I just tried my hand at making me a sig using Macromedia Fireworks, was my first time using this program.
I know its not the best but I think I dont fairly well.
What do ya'll think?
Any comments, opinions or 'tricks' and hints on using that program are more than welcome.

the logo on right looks lonely, so does the character portrait.
Enlarge it and blend it in to make it look less like a portrait that has been pasted in but a part of the whole.
Text on Bottom seems badly anti-aliased, black text needs work... it just doesnt catch the eye.
Try other font... Impact is a very good font, but doesnt work at that size.

As far as Fireworks goes, fiddle around with every single menu and command it has. Figure out what they do, etc. Though, eventually you'll want to move on to Adobe Photoshop. Fireworks is what I use, and my skill is limited by what it offers. If you have Photoshop, then begin using it. The sooner you learn how, the better off you'll be, trust me. Fireworks is the "beginner's" Photoshop.
Also, try and center the insignia on the right between top and bottom... if you don't want to do that... kill some space beneath it. Also, as far as the portrait goes, I pretty much agree with Holograph. It doesn't necessarily need better blending, but it does need to be bigger.
The lower font she is correct about as well. I don't know if it needs to be changed, but it defenitely needs to be brought out more. Try changing the color to a brighter red... not super bright, but something a bit more stand-out-ish.

This was my first attempt with Flash. I never did like fireworks, though. :P
Nice sig though, the head is real creepy.

Yeah I tried to enlarge it, but it didnt look as smooth as it does when not enlarged. How do I get around that, and smooth out my toons face when enlarged? BTW im a total noob at this so please forgive me.

I like the faded out picture of your head.But am not keen on the red text along the bottom.

In Fireworks (and I think most other image programs) if you shrink a picture, it'll stay pretty clear, but expanding it will make it blurry. You'll have to re-import the image.

Okay, I changed quite abit, i think this one looks alot better. I enlarged my toon, changed background and took out the text about Minmatar slaves, Dont wont to seem like a Amarrian racist

Does Fireworks have anything like Layermasks? Where you can paint on it to hide areas?
If yes ... paint the edges and blur them out a bit, so the image gets faded in better.
