How do you know these guys are macro miner's exactly...?
Me and my corp mates were once thought to be macro miner's merely because our mining operation was quite efficient, it wasn't until we replied to people in local that they realised we were just a group of friends that worked well together.

I suppose the unelegant answer would be...lots and lots of suicide kessies, or a smartbombing Geddon or two. The ice miner drops should hopefully pay for your ship's insurance and module costs, but its less profitable than just ganking it with 3 or 4 kessies.

U would need more then one. I would just report them and leave them to it.

It could easily be done. Just not sure if it would be classed as an exploit or not You would definitely lose the caracal to concord, but you have time to kill at least one mackinaw, maybe all 3.

Edited by: thatguyinpc on 20/07/2006 18:22:29 LOL well if he had titled his thread: I'm picking on miners. I'd have jut thought "Yarr Harr Didle Dee Dee, Do what you want cause a pirate is free" and not bothered to respond.
However, he choose to name his thread "How to kill these type of macroers?" So I wanted to point out that all he's doing is picking on players in what sounds like high sec space. Is it whithin the game rules and mechanics? Yes. Is this the kind of service that helps the community as a whole? No.
Destroying macros is an honerable goal, and not really pirating in my opinion. Picking on players in high sec, without even the motivation of profit is really not even worthy of the pirate name.

I caught 4 Mackinaw's and a Itty Mk 5 in Khanid space a few days ago.
Geddon + 8x Plasma Smartbomb I + 3x Large Shield Extender I, + 4x Co-Pro O + 4x 1600MM Plate = 12k shield, 22k armor.
You'll get about 3 blasts in on the smartbombs, depending on how long it takes Concord to turn up.
Insured, that lot should cost you about 80~85m ISK.
Insurance pays back 66m. Send in an alt to collect whatever is left of the bombageddon, and hope the macroers had some decent gear fitted; in my case, I got 7 local hull expanders + the rest of their gear.

A While back i killed a Hulk in a 0.9 with a Raven
Fitted 8 x large named SB Mid was sheild booster and capinjectors lows was a rep and 2 bulkheads and a damage control.
In hindsight for empire suiciding hitpoints and resistance is way way more important than repping. You're going to die so your aim is to give Concord as many hitpoints as possible to kill rather than try to rep it.

Now this sort of comment is just silly. Wikipedia->Pirates were filthy profiteers. "The code is more of a guideline than an actual rule" is a romanticized version of the truth.
For the following examples replace sea with space.
From the wiki article: One who commits piracy by engaging in robbery, pillaging, or plundering at sea is known as a pirate From Dictionary.com pi+rate Audio pronunciation of "pirate" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prt) n. 1. 1. One who robs at sea or plunders the land from the sea without commission from a sovereign nation. 2. A ship used for this purpose. 2. One who preys on others; a plunderer.
Anyone defining 'piracy' as anything else implies they don't have a good understanding of the English language and the historical roots of the word "pirate".
That's all a preface to your comment: Is this the kind of service that helps the community as a whole? No.
Why would you say that? As someone who manufactures goods, I really rather hope many miners lose their strip miners, that way I can sell more of 'em :). I've seen plenty of posts from miners who don't -like- combat, but also accept that it's part of the game and mining would be -dull- if there wasn't some chance of foolishness.
So - OP, 'geddon bomb them to hell. Just hope someone doesn't come after you for it

LOL which brings us back to this is just another pirating thread that really has nothing to do with macro miners as advertised.
But thank you for taking the time to cow me into submission by pulling out the big gun: wikki!!! which of course is the end all be all of accumulated knowledge from which no opponent ever recovers.

Note to self, next time a pirate wants a ransom remember that per RaThlan Naaoor I shouldnÆt pay. Because ransoming wasnÆt in the wikki discription, and therefore itÆs not a real pirate that IÆm dealing with.
So while I may not be able to kill him I can damage him psychologically by taunting that heÆs not a real pirate, wikki says soà.

Not at all - I'm pointing out that -all- brands of looting, etc fall under the term "pirate" by definition. What kind of pirate you are seen to be greatly depends on your reputation.

Dictionary.com though is quite reliable
And no attempt to cow you, just a heartfelt comment on a silly attempt to discorage killing miners - OP should feel free to do so :)

What you describe sounds like an efficient mining operation to me. The use of an Elite Industrial, escpecially a Gallente one is common sense as they get are able to hold more with expanders. Secondly using a tractor beam is again common sense,I use the same on my hauler for both mining and mission running, which is a godsend, not having to fetch rat cans here there in a slow and unagile ship, especially one fitted with good expanders in the lows. Finally mackinaws give a huge bonus to Ice mining, which has to be perhaps the dullest of all mining ops,so the less time doing it the better.(unless you have a fetish for this of course),so if you can mine with more than one again it makes sense. So please try to distiguish here, that just because an ice mining team uses the most efficient setup they can,is not automatically a flag that says "Macro Miner",and they are certainly not some kind of "weirdos",due to the fact these ships happen to have additional bonuses for resistance. Also, mostly any ship can be ganked in Empire as you can easily read here on the forums. Threads like these really serve no constructive purpose, except inflaming an already hot topic,if you really are so concerned with them being Macros petition it,join macro intel channel, cross reference, ect. If they are as you say Macros, working to get them permabanned by CCP is a better way to go. Finally, the ships in the op you described take a fair while to skill for, much better to try for the permaban by CCP,and them lose the account, than just buying new ships clone ect.

Easy.
Rob them, if they don¦t complain to you in the following 2 minutes after that, they are macroers. Keep robbing them till the guy notices it.
If they do complain, you can return them the stolen ore or not. Up to you. I generally return it if I made a mistake.

If you simply wanted to profit from them and not destroy them, you could have a friend bump the hauler out of tractor range and pilot a haluer of your own and pick up their ice. (Or vice versa.)
Originally by: Metatron Celestia You can stab, gank, grief, ransom miners, steal from their can, but if you pop their ore can, my gawd there will be hell to pay.
