Trying to render my video as a wmv file. Tried a few times and everytime vegas freaks out and stops responding partially through the rendering process. I've gotten as close to 85% at one time. Anybody else ever have this problem or have a solution?
Should i just render as an avi and then encode it later? Rendering as an avi file takes 10 times as long but if it does it without freaking vegas out then it would be worth it.
Any help appreciated

My vegas crashes everytime (wmv) if the clip itself is over 8 mins long (1080p resolution) Using 64 bit in win 7 64 bit with only 4 GB ram though ( if you're not using 64 bit vegas and OS you're sitting in even worse situation on memory usage)
Though, rendering it on .avi with lossless codec (lagarith) then using staxrip to convert it to .mkv is THE BEST solution anyway ( quality + file size ) so if you have the HDD space you shouldn't have any excuse not to.
Mail me if needed and I make a short tutorial on it for you. |

Have had this issue for ages. My workaround is rendering any clip via short sub-clips and then merging it together - later you'll encode your vid into something else anyway.
Don't remember when it was last time I managed to make Vegas render my movie entirely in one single go. 2008, CCP Zulu(park): "command ships are fine as is" 2011, CCP Greyscale: "is the Nighthawk actually underpowered?" Nice progress, guys. |

you can try to set the preview ram to zero before you start rendering and if that doesnt work (it probably won't) try to first render it as an uncompressed avi intermediate. Then rerender that as a wmv. |

You need to use an executable explorer (can't remember the exact name of it) and edit the .exe file for vegas - you can mark it to allow it to address as much ram as it likes thereby bypassing the windows x64 ram issue. I fixed mine. Permanently.
EDIT: CFF Explorer!!!! |
