I would think its legal.
You own the POS, why cant you decide what it shoots?

I heard it was impossible to do anyways. Have you seen this happening?
There have been occasions where pos' tend to bug out and shoot only a certain person or two. Shoot him when he arrives, stop shooting when he leaves and re-engage when he warps back in.
Waaaait a minute, did you sparta guys pull a standings trick on us on the pos? If so, nice

Doesn't work very well on the fly how i think you wan't it to work.As in changing target to focus fire on.Sence the standings only affect it every hour.Or thats what i have been told.

Given the variability of the answers in this thread, I guess the only way to know if it's possible to perform a standing manipulation allowing to focus all POS'es weapons on a single target at once is to do the test.
If the test shows that you may effectively redirect the fire, then it's a matter to get an official CCP statement about this on forums in order to archive a documented & formal position from CCP for future purposes, be this allowed or considered an exploit.
No dread would ever survive if all the weapon systems of a decently defended POS fire at it at once, therefore I doubt this practice is admitted because it would void the fundamental meaning of implementing dreads in the first place.
Since I don't run a POS either, I have no clue also about what you may accomplish with the "Starbase Tactical Officer" skill. I heard long ago that this skill was useless. Is it still the case ?

Pos has option to fire at worst standings first.
Setting corp standings to an individual is possible.
Why should it be an exploit to have your station attack the pilot you consider the biggest threat first?

Perfectly legal, considering it doesn't work. I recall this thread before and people said that a change was made to make standings take an hour to affect POS or some such thing.

Edited by: Mazare Mircea on 04/08/2006 11:40:43 A buddy in an Alliance at war with RA saw this in action. They would put positive standings on the dread pilots and let the pos take out the support - RA guys used it. From what I understand a GM interviened and apparently it is considered an exploit.

Well, if using that feature in THIS way is considered an exploit...what the hell was that feature implemented for? I can't think of any other way I'd even think to use it...

i think they changed it recently so standings take time to come into effect with regards of POS, however its considered an exploit

The way its done now, or atleast how Red Alliance was doing it...
Was to set all the dread pilots to -5 (for example) then everyone else would be -10 auto cuz they were in a -10 corp, so when backup was needed, the first battleships to warp in would get the full force, insta popping left and right...
i hope this wasnt a secrit ^^

There was an occasion when we were attacking a medium pirate POS near our space. Fortunately it wasn't a dreadstar because everytime Siobhan (my PvP character) warped in it immediately switched all fire on to my Geddon (which was fortunately well plated).
I would warp out to our safe and get repaired and then warp back in again and immediately the POS would stop shooting everyone else and concentrate fire on Siobhan again. We weren't sure if this was a bug at the time - but from the post above it seems not!

afaik every POS, regardless of standings, switch target to players who warped in, immiedietly. wich means if there is a bunch of your mates shooting a POS, the guns cycle through them in an unkown order. If you warp in now, the POS will stop the cycle and shoot you once, then going back to its cycle thingy.
