Yes, the agents that essentially allow you to buy a storyline mission. Are you suggesting that anything that takes effort in Eve be for sale on the open market? |

By "anything that takes effort" do you mean ships, ammo, POS and the like not be on the open market?
Why not have something that takes effort be on the market, like tags that fix security status for instance, sure you can rat for hours to get enough so you can head to lowsec safely, but why would you if you can afford them? |

One of the reasons Gallente/ Minmatar space has lower populations than Caldari/ Amarr is the original mission choice was Caldari/ Achura + CNR. People killed their Gallente/ Minmatar running missions and there is no way to resolve the standings. There are a few band-aid options but if you got Gallente to -8.00 a few times over grinding ISK in Caldari level 4's you are forever banished from Gallente and Minmatar space. |

run a few SoE storyline missions. BAM fixed. I know there is a lv4 SoE agent in caldari space, dunno about storylines though. There is also a lv4 agent in Amarr space with a storyline agent next door.

SOE are for repairing Sec. The only SOE missions that end in a faction boost is the 3 month epic arc set that sends you in to all 4 factions to complete. If you have negative with two you get to do those missions with navy shooting at you on every gate. |

I'll disagree with this, SOE storylines do indeed bump your Gallente standing up (and to a lesser extent, Minmatar) because of the derived modifications (Gallente being 8.0 with SOE, or vice-versa). And I'd know, I've been grinding them for the past 2 months... |

Saying it again though, these are convoluted, band-aid solutions to Faction repair. My situation is the opposite. My original character is Gallente and while I don't give a toot if I can go to Jita I really don't want to lose access to Amarr travel lanes. As such I can't really run missions anymore.
I made a suggestion in F&I to have pirate dog tags used as tokens for an NPC bounty hunting system. Rather than direct trade of an item for standings like the Sec tags, allow quick missions on all factions based on their pirate dog tags. I'd prefer to build in content rather than create manufactured Sec. Content that isn't first and foremost an ISK grind. Like content is right now. |

Yeah because that argument worked to stop them from removing POS standing requirements despite in-game services providing precisely that as well.
As to the OP, I'm 100% in support of a "tags for faction standing" model identical to the tags for security sec model. Something that lets you repair your standing back to 0.0 with each faction for ISK/tags so you can fix whatever mess you might have made of your standings owing to CCP's somewhat schizophrenic take on faction standings over the years. But to increase it above 0.0 (where you actually get some benefits in market trading, etc.) would still require grinding it out the old fashioned way.

EDIT: Bonus points if acquiring these faction tags initially actually requires high faction standings to begin with, returning some of the benefits recently stripped away to those who actually bothered to grind out high standings for whatever various reasons.
They could use the very same tags that are for security status to improve faction standings, and I agree that it should only get you to zero as buying benefits should be kept to a minimum.
I think that CCP make more money out of people starting new toons so they can have the faction standings back to zero than providing a grind free option to fix it on older accounts that have had the faction standings screwed up by their inconsistant, opaque system.
I accidentally did a mission that gave me a -3% standings hit so did the right thing and un-subbed this account. |
