CCP's stance on bumping is this and it is quite reasonable stance to take:
Quote:CCP considers the act of bumping a normal game mechanic, and does not class the bumping of another playerGÇÖs ship as an exploit. However, persistent targeting of a player with bumping by following them around after they have made an effort to move on to another location can be classified as harassment, and this will be judged on a case by case basis.
We would also like to stress that if a gameplay activity is classified as being GÇ£within the rulesGÇ¥ this does not mean that we endorse, sanction or back player activity. We simply see this as emergent gameplay that has occurred due to the nature of game mechanics.
As such, any players who have any notes to this effect within their in game biographies should remove words of this nature immediately.
They're not endorsing anything, but just saying it's an acceptable use of game mechanics as long as you don't go overboard with it by continually targeting individuals no matter where they go. If all you want is to mine in peace without interaction with non-miners, I suggest you find yourself a more quiet corner of the universe. These kind of activities are almost always heavily concentrated on high visibility/population areas, so just a few jumps off the beaten path makes a world of difference.

Being that I pay to play this game, and I'm sure many others do as well who very much dislike this kind of behavior, I feel that I should gauge the sentiment here on the forums.
Everyone pays for this game and almost everyone understands this is a multiplayer sandbox. It means you're entitled to try everything, but there can not be any guarantees of success and other people are entitled to do the same as you, which leads to inevitable clashes between player interests and inevitably someone has to be the loser in that clash. If you want things to go your way, you're going to have to adjust your activities to account for their activities or push back. Making a declaration about how you just want to be left alone is just you announcing you're an easy mark who is likely to fold or submit when pressured. |
