You generally have to have half a brain to work out why the work, when they work and how to make them work.

I have tried out the usual advised PvP setup for solo piracy / antipiracy. It looks kile this:
5xlight ion blaster or 3x lib,2xnos 10mn ab, scrambler, web med armor repairer, 1600mm plate, 3xeanm
I get scrambled, jammed, and owned by 2 ceptors with no chance of escape, if I'm lucky to lock 1 of them my droned might out damage one but not 2 of them so 2 bad guys kill me.
So I tryed this and it works much better for a noob like me:
3xmed oin blasters (pref. named), 2xmed nos 10mn ab, scramler, web med armor rep, 3xwarp stabilisors!, power control (with low skills I need 10% more power grid to power all the mods)
If u get jammed ur drons might do the job, but if they don't u have time to escape, but if u don't get jammed med blasters will outdamage any tanked cruiser with light guns' and u will win cuz he will lack or fire power or cap to repair).
Comment on my opinion pls and note: this is setup for noobs!

You weren't joking about those setups being for noobs...

What ship are you using?
Also, you've already pointed out why you are dying, you're a newbie. It takes time to get good at PvP, not just skillpoints wise, but actual skill.
3 Warp Stabs? That's just bad, you go into a PvP in the mind that you are already dead, if you come out alive, that's a bonus.

Well relly sorry I have forgotten to say it is a setup for Thorax.
And yes it is a bonus for me to come alive out of PvP fight cuz I'm playing only 20 days and with 600k skill ponys I'm mad and I lock and shoot on pirate battlecruisers , pitares who have more than 15mil skillpoints.

Most of the solo setups in the setups section dont work. What u need to do is drop half the med slots and add extra warp scramblers.

You really need at least 3M SP in support skills to solo in cruisers. ---------------- RecruitMe@NOINT!

The definition of a setup working isn't that you can idly fly into a random situation and uberpwn all.
It's a really bad idea to engage (one, let alone) two interceptors in a Thorax solo without a setup equipped to handle them. They're fast enough to stay out of web range and your guns can't hit them out that far.
Never rely on drones. They're very easily destroyed by a competent AF/inty pilot.

The OP has the right spirit; too often I hear people going like "I'll go for PvP one day when I have this and that skill".
Quite many of the setups listed in these forums (those that are not ridiculed to death) are rather good. For the purpose they were planned for.
Eve is all about Rock-Scissors-Paper ideology. You're supposed to first decide in what kind of conditions you want to fight, then pick/construct setup for that. After that it's just about getting in the battle situation that favours your setup.
There is one major drawback of using popular effective setups; people will engage you only if they believe they have reasonably chance to win. You might well get more kills with less effective but slighly surprising setups.

Get rid of the ponys for starters, you won't out run them with all that extra weight!

No setup works vs all. Thats the charm of Eve. You would do better fighting other cruisers in that setup. However, since you cant tank at all (having all your low slots filled with wcs) you would have to warp off every time.
