Hello, i were browsing forums but could not find answer to my question so hope its ok if i ask here.
So there is 'Orbit' and ' Keep at range' commands wich help you a lot at least in pvp as far as i know, you can set up shortcut button for those commands default values, or you can use right mouse click on other objects and manually choose command and distance for your command. But the problem is, there are only options to set up for example orbit distance from 500m to 30km, and of course current distance from object. So the question is if there is any way to actually edit your orbit distances, or to setup default distance higher than 30km somehow. I understand that you can just manually get to the needed range from other object and then just give command - orbit at current range, but this is annoying and ineffective especially if you are fighting against multiple opponents or if you got other stuff to do. |

Right click the orbit or keep at range button in the selected item window, you can preset any range you want there. My latest video: Ferocious 3.0 Special Edition-á |

Right click the orbit or keep at range buttons and it pops up a single menu click that and you can put in whatever value in meters that you want the new one the be. You can do this with the warp button also if you want to warp at some range other than 0. |

Right click the button while flying in space, that will give you an edit default distance option.
That goes the same for the warp command, too.
Adjusting these can be done per ship class. So for example a slicer and tormentor could each be given separate default distance values. |

You can right-click the orbit button (and indeed most buttons) in your Selected Items toolbar and manually set the defaults there, using any value you'd like. There are upper bounds, of course, but you get full control up to those bounds.
You can also use the radial menu to select orbit and warp-to ranges: open the menu, and instead of clicking the action, click and hold GÇö a counter should show up and you can then drag left and right to change the distance. i was going to say this, i quite like the radial menu. takes a bit of getting used to but once your arm picks up the muscle memory its fairly efficient. =][= |

C'mon. Where's the big "however" to this? HOWEVER (comma) even if you do this it doesn't mean you'll necessarily be orbiting at the set distance. I think the formula for this is d = t x m - LM (where LM = your lunch money per week) Tippia will back me up on this. TAKE IT TIPPIA! I set the radial menu to my middle mouse button (wheel) and turned it's delay all the way down. This way it pops up instantly, but doesn't interfere with left clicking my way around the screen.

since this thread still open, mb someone could tell me if NPC behavior was changed ? I were solo-roaming, found ishtar in anomaly, warped, ishtar was there, i managed to lock ishtar for like 3 sec or so, then i got jammed by npc, and i realized ALL of NPC pirates is attacking me -_-, as far as i remember NPC were attacking their target and didn`t switch to another player wich warps in usually. |

That was in 0.0 and ishtar was still there for like 15 sec after i got jammed
Npc's have been switching targets for a while now. (About a 18 months I think). |

Hmm so that means solo roaming is dead? atleast that makes killing carebears very hard, they not only don`t take additional damage from NPCs, you take it... I mean its not so easy to find targets in 0.0 in the first place, and catch them, this takes quite alot of time sometimes, and now this, i realize i can just go low sec and pvp as long as i want but why would they do that with 0.0? very sad:( |

NPCs don't always switch so it's normally pretty safe to attack ratters as they don't generally fit tackle. The only thing you have to watch out for is tackle from the NPCs themselves, as you found out (check site beforehand). I often kill ratting drakes in WH space with my bomber and the sleepers will switch to me about 50% of the time. If it's too rough I can just warp out. Sleepers especially seem to dislike EWAR and always get mad at me when I activate my target painter (even though it's helping them, the buggers!) www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com
